I have some full size headphone but pico dont have enough power to drive them. So I am considering to connect the pico to some more powerful amp...Can it work?

Use a mini to RCA cable, although you have to use the amp section of Pico; or buy the new Pico DAC instead. You cannot completely by-pass the amp section as there is a 1st stage amplifying circuit right after the DAC.

Use low gain, max volume. Works great.

use low gain and it can work just like a dac?

The difference is probably negligible, so yes you can use it like that.

yes you can use it like that, but the amp circuitry will always be in use. still works pretty well, but the purist in me says its not right LOL.

...well I did compare Justin's prototype Pico DAC to my Pico amp/DAC and I couldn't discern any difference...that's not to say it wasn't there but my ears aren't perfect.
