Audio-Technica Flagship Coming?

Thread Starter
From what I've been able to find, the following is a chronological list of Audio-Technica "top of the line" (limited or not) headphones:

W10VTG - 5/21/96
W10LTD - 12/1/97
W11JPN - 12/1/99
W11R - 12/1/00
W2002 - 10/21/01
L3000 - 11/21/03
W5000 - 12/2/05

I may be missing some. Based on this release schedule, and the recent releases by Senn and Grado, should we be expecting a new Flagship model from AT in the near future? I'm questioning this because I'm interested in the W5000 but would hold off if something's just around the corner. Anyone have any insight into this?

Thanks.

For me, the ATH-A2000X is the current flagship. Not considering the price, but the remarkable sound quality.

Sure there are top-of-the-line headphones for AT's different lines, like A2000X, AD2000 and W5000, but I'm not sure even if Audio Technica themselves considers that they have a flagship model at the moment.
Since they just release ESW10JPN, A1000X and A2000X, I doubt there will be something new soon. But I do hope that AT will come up with something higher-end in the near future, I really like some woods though

ATH should come out with a phone at L3000's league. I'm sure there will be quite a few interests

Where's my W100.

Agree with Curra, A2000X may be the flagship now.

However, what I need is the new wooden flagship from audio-technica.

I think they should release a full sized version of the ESW10JPN.

Or W11JPN?

Yeah I would love something like the L3000

never tried W11JPN, but ESW10JPN to me sounds quite close to W2002.

and yes.. something similar to L3000 would be really great.

AT doesn't have flagship phones; they have several lineups with models that scale up (AD line, A line, W line, etc). I prefer their approach to that of, say, Sennheiser or AKG or Grado, where people may be misled to believe that if you simply pay for the most expensive phone they offer, you'll have the best-sounding one.

The ESW10JPN made me a AT fanboy. I want the top bird!
