Okay so first post but I've been reading here for quite sometime. And cant seem to find the right portable amp to pair with my gear.
I've got a pair of AKG 271 MKIIs in the mail to take over my noobish HDJ1000s (that have started an oh so expensive addiction). I still want to use my HDJs but like every HDj over a month old both the swivels are cracked! So my AKG's will take care of all my audio issues and the HDJs will pick up the slack in the bass and street/portability departments.
So i'm lookign for an amp to pair with my Cowen S9 and my iPhone 3G... so it needs to be shielded cause I want to still use my iPhone!
I'm also looking for something extreemly pocketable so size is an issue. Mainly how thin the amp is tho.
I'm always using my rig so a rechargale battery is a healthy bonus (as I have usb mini home/work/studio ect. but dont really want to lug around a power supply).
I'm also thinking if maybe something with a bass boost will help improve the low ends on the AKG 271 MKIIs and can simply be flicked off when pairing with the HDJs?
And to top it off possibly anodized steel case as I have access to a laser cutter at work... would love to put some of my own art on there!
Last thing would be budget... Its kind of open. I want to get this right so can spen upwards of $300 but would like to try keep it under.
So atm I'm thinking along the lines of the Hornet
Emmeline "The Hornet" Portable Headphone Amp - Ray Samuels Audio
But its a little bulky for my taste.
The iBasso T4 seems to tick most of the boxes
iBasso
anodized case, bass bost (if that will help the AKGs), slim, rechargable battery, and the price is nice.
And of course the Corda HeadSix or XXS
Meier-Audio
Maily for size, but Ive heard the can really produce a good quality sound for their price.
Or even the KICAS or Caliente
Purity Audio
These seem a little pricey - but I guess they are priced that way for a reason right?
As you can see there is plenty going on upstairs and Im a tad confused. I really want to get this right and just dont know enough yet. Especially about sheilding.
Thanks for any help in advance. Oh... and I don't need DAT
[edt] Just wanted to mention im not asking for a comparison. Throw suggestions!!!
These are just a few examples of what ive been looking at.
