boomana, can you tell us the differences you hear with flats and bowls on the hf2? i prefer bowls on the rs1 and hf1 (yes, in the minority)...i suspect i'll prefer bowls on the hf2 as well...

Based on the feedback from first round of HF-2 owners, these are good quality cans inside and out. I really like the wood chamber design and I think the "modified 325" cups are really nice. IMO these cans have a very sleek/refined appearance. I do expect good quality stuff from Grado and I'm really looking forward to receiving my HF-2's.

I'm fairly new to the hobby so please help me out here....

Why do you think that we should not expect good stuff from "a company like Grado"? I'd be horrified if anyone referred to my company like that...

Which other headphone manufacturers do you place the bar so low for and why?

Nope. Having too much fun listening.

My review: these are not the greatest headphones ever, but I really don't care. Not great soundstage, but better than other grados, killer mids, great guitars, no lack of bass, no nails in the ears treble like the 325s, almost a bit warm, nice balance, and I totally understand the mini-ps1 comparisions. I'm completely happy with them. How's that?

That all sounds good to me, thanks!...

Actually, quite good! Your quick explanations of sound characteristics really make sense and offer more interest. Gosh I just can't wait to get these. The announcement of these happened literally 1 week after getting my ESW10jpn which now makes me not even find the ATs that great. Oh well. Continuous desire for better/more! ->

I hope the Denons or Pro900 will make me happy in the Bass closed companion to the HF2 since the L3000 just isn't worth the starvation and death that would follow on my Student funds

Methinks you forgot to turn your sarcasm meter on there for a minute... he was making fun.

Succinct and nice, just the way I like it.

LOL, i cant believe there is so much b*itching about a a PERCEIVED yet UNCONFIRMED "defect" in a headphone (and actualy flat out DENIED by the handful of people of have seen the cans in person), which has not yet been offically released, does not in ANY WAY affect the SQ, from a person who has not yet seen, much less held an actual unit in his hands.

And to think the problems of the HD800 (a Phone which costs 3 times the HF-2) both physical and SQ-related, merits only a 3-page (as of now) thread with no company-bashing and pontificating. http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f4/doe...800-do-428632/

Sigh.

Well, b*tching and baseless speculation are a staple especially for highly-anticipated headphones.

Welcome to the club, mate!

Have they started charging credit cards yet?

Yes sarcasm was on full blast. I probably should have toned it down a bit. If the newbie had read this entire thread, as well as others he would have seen that Mr. Les is somewhat the provocateur....... Sorry to have created any misunderstanding. I love Grado's both the company and people!

Gonna order these now and the horrible wait begins...
