I thought I read somewhere that orders will be taken into July, but if you're interested, defintely confirm that w/ TTVJ so that you can secure a set...

I won't be shocked at all to hear that several hundred HF-2 orders have been placed over this weekend. I waited for a long time to order, and I always had a gut feeling there would be nice upside surprises here, so I pulled the trigger Friday night...
Thanx for the Pointer there, I'll drop him an Email and check it out.

I can probably get a used "classic" MS-Pro at a slightly cheaper price now locally so it's really a dilemma right now.
An MS-Pro at under $430? Seems like a no brainer if it is in good condition.

I am glad to hear that sonic differences are present when compared to the RS1 and hopefully will be a complimentary can in the quiver. Either way the HF2 looks awesome and is a great addition to the Grado lineup and considering that it was created for the members of this forum. Rock on Grado!

edit: Not to be selfish but to make it a limited edition status - keep it to under 500 just like the HF1.
Yeah, I love all kinds of different music/genres, but Zep will always be my favorite classic rock band.

Dunno if you've heard, but Shpongle is releasing their 4th album in October. There's a concert/party at The Roundhouse in London to kick it off : Twisted Music

I have a feeling that the sheer raw size/demand of the audience is going to push this thing well over 500. Head-fi is so freakin' huge, no big numbers will shock me. The cans look quality inside and out...the more, the merrier...

I can say with confidence that I think the HF-2 sound better than my old RS-2, HF-1 or SR-325i did. I am glad that I ordered a pair on the 16th. I might even like them more than the PS-1000 (GASP!), but I didn't compare them to the RS-1 there.

They seem to have richer mids than the SR-325i or HF-1 (somewhat like an RS-2), but more sparkle and treble extension than the RS-2 without having too much (like the 325i), with a nicer soundstage than RS-2 (like the HF-1) without being too forward like the RS-2. That's all I have to say until I get mine in and spend more time with them.

Finally got around to my cancellation, decided that open phones just arent my sq. Plus there's something about the design that bugs me... Mmmm im sure alot of people will get joy out of them though!

It's interesting that you should comment on the "receded cup". I suggested in the HF2 review/comparison thread that the phone is shallow in depth when compared to an RS1. The response from a headfier who actually listened to the HF2 at CanJam was that it was of similar size to the RS1. I'm really surprised by this because based on photographs of both phones, the HF2 still looks shallower in depth to me, if not smaller overall. It looks more akin to a Prestige series rather than a Reference series Grado.

those who've listened to them, what equipment is at todd's station? what sources/amps are you listening out of? that might also help us figure out what's going on...and please don't say you're listening out of the 307A...because that's not going to help most of us who probably can't/won't drop 6K on an amp...

i think boomana said she's listened to them straight out of her MBP and they sound good...which is good news.

My comments above were made with having tried the HF-2 with TTVJ Millett 307A, TTVJ FET, Manley amp, and Woo WA22. Sounded good with all of them.

Well as I'm obssessing about this, I might as well ask again. I note that you own the RS1. Are the RS1 housings deeper than those of the HF2? Is the RS1 a physically larger phone overall?

thanks for the info...i'm interested to see if they sound good with the usual suspects - mad ear +, millet hybrid, m3, etc. i imagine it would, but interested to read some actual reviews...
