OKay, here is the story...here i was with a nice bid on ebay for a new MD player....I send the money order and the seller claims never to have recieved it!!!! Anyways, besides my being bitter, what is a really good MD Recorder out there (besides the MZ-R909)?? I am mostly looking for a good headphone output.

1) Put a hold on the money order -- most banks will let you.

2) Do you really mean "player?" Or do you mean "recorder?"

Well, it seems that the majority prefers the sound of Sharp MD players, at least in respect to the headphone out, which apparently depends on the different equalization compeared to Sony.

In some models, like the Sharp MD-SR 50, you can even enter an undocumented service-mode to change the EQ.

Of course, the best way to find out is to go to a store and try different units with the headphones you'll be using later on to find the player that you like the best. Even the most highly praised equipment might just not meet your personal taste...
