I have my hands ON the Sony X1000 Walkman - Impressions / Discussions - Page 60

If you think the build quality is good, then you'll be very pleased with the SQ. I see you have the S639, I'm betting you'd find that the X is a bit more detailed while having this very nice relaxed manner about conveying its detail. It makes the 829 I have sound shouty and in your face. The X's soundstage is bigger too. Bass deeper and more controlled. It's all good stuff.

I did not transfer any music over for obvious reasons. But the tracks on the X sounded a bit dull...Slightly underwhelming and congested...If that makes sense.

The FX are superb. Loving them.

Well the little Cowon seems more punchier and dare i say alive!

Now, im going to reserve judgement until i transfer my library across to the X.
I have high hopes for it.
Unless I have a "special" model, your screen and everyone else's is glass ( I'd bet my houses on it) Even hardened glass can be scratched by hardened steel or even small sand /dirt particles that contain quartz./garnet ect. I scratched my screen on my touch 2g with it falling to the floor of my vehicle and getting scratched by the grit down there.

It just goes to show how different people hear things, I thought the D2+ sounded thin and congested compared to the X. And the X seemed more alive than the D2. Come to think about it, I thought the demo music sounded really weak and was worried about the sound, until I got my own music on it.

I swore the demo stuff was 128 or lower bitrate

Yeah the S639 is my favourite so far as I find the SQ much more detailed and vivid than my Cowon D2 which I found sounded quite dull and muddy.

Its maybe been mentioned so apologies but what are the stock phones like that come with the X1000?

Has anyone tried swapping out the OS?

Maybe some moblin, android or Ubuntu Netbook Remix?

Funny you should ask that because I haven't even unpacked them out of their baggie yet! I went straight to my IE8's and Ultrasone HFI780's. Maybe someone other than me should field that one.

How to put album art for cds i ripped as i don't see any file open with WAV but i can do it the one already ripped with mp3?

Is mp3tag not compatible with WAV?

Do you guys just use WMP11 to rip or any other better software?

His stuff's always recorded really well

Those demo tracks (in my opinion), don't show off the real strengths of the Sony at all.

Hey yoyo59, yeah, that bass is really nice!

It's a nightmare to transfer music with WMP 11

That's something I notice too, lyrics are easier to understand because of the player's clarity.

I use Media Monkey to transfer and manage all my music.
I recommend it

That would push me over the edge. To have a real browser and great OS would make it infinitely better. But someone would have to seriously mod the OS to take full advantage of the touchscreen like the current firmware does.

Will it sort the art cover as well and what do you use to rip?

Thanks
