Judging from past experience, I'd say about 15 years...

There's one leather case available for it on Amazon, but it's not 'official'.

Duncan-
I had a good listening session last night and what seemed to stand out more than anything else was that instruments had noticeably more life and sparkle. It's as if they had a lid on them before, and then someone came along, kicked off the lid and set the music free! The only time I've heard guitars sound so lifelike was with the Touch/LOD/Mustang P-51. But the Sony produces almost the same effect. I'm guessing that maybe the s-master digital amplifier is responsible for the added goodness. Who knows? And who really cares? It sounds amazing with everything. I was a little concerned before I bought it, that it was going to sound cold and a little sharp - but it has the most non-digital sound I've ever heard.

Sadly, I can't use it at the moment because I'm waiting for my JVC's to show up and SOMEone's 'X' from John Lewis

Can anyone tell me how the X series compares sonically to the A829?
From all the comments I've read so far, it sounds better but how much better?
I've recently purchased a iBasso D10/iriver h120 combination..would it come close to this?

I only just recently sold my 829 and loved it for the year that I had it. But I prefer the X because it's clearer, more detailed and more powerful, plus it just sounds more fun to me. No idea if would come close to your iBasso D10/iriver h120 combination as I've never heard it. But I don't miss the Touch/LOD/P-51 at all since I've been listening to the X. That's not to say it's the same at all, but it's plenty good enough. I couldn't ever go back to the 829 now, even if I still had it

Duncan, you'll be proud to know that you are still the lowest of the low

I sincerely hope that my cat won't pee on Poppy's new X. That would be such a shame.
