No, it has some english menus, but most are Japanese and no option for full english. This is according to the ebay sellers.

Great news, my ie8s on the way and hopefully the x1000 at the begenning of next week if play.com does it job right (for once...).
fingers crossed!
(ps dumb question, but what is the best method for a headphone burn? plug it on a walkman set on power cord and repeat same song max volume for days?)

I listened to my IE8 straight out of the box and left them hooked up overnight playing music. Don't use max volume! Just set it slightly higher than your normal listening levels and leave them burning in at night for a while. But listen to them in between, you might like them straight away.

Hey cn11 - good link! I liked this sentence from the review:
It sucker punches the iPod from the off with cracking sonics.

vkvedam - thank you

following on from cn11 and soozieq's posts, I have to say that the combination I have is capable of completely spell-binding sound quality when fed with good quality rips...

This is one of the best purchases I've made in all of my time at HeadWize / Head-Fi...

That's the line that got me too! I guess you can confirm that... Did the video link in the review work for anyone? It never finished loading up for me.....

Duncan,
You're trying to kill me with anticipation aren't you? I'm hoping mine will be here around next Wednesday. So I've got another full week at least of hanging around this thread like a fly, listening to all you UK-ers' 'experiential' descriptions.

Yeah, it really sounds good, and it seems to be sounding better all the time. I love placebo, I might even make a cake out of it

Hey, Ihatepopupads and cn11, I bet Duncan's whetting your appetite even more now
post #310 of 3749
Hehe, this isn't placebo for me...

Although, to be fair, the music I was listening to was from 'HDTracks.com'

I think that walkingman and soozieq will agree with me, there is nothing that seems to trip this player up, all genres seem to come through cleanly, and without compromise

Yes, it's totally effortless no matter what. You never get the feeling it's struggling at all, it's such a powerhouse of um... POWER.

On a side note, in cn11's link the reviewer said it wasn't compatible with a Mac. I thought all new Sony's were compatible, I know the 829 was... I think
post #312 of 3749
I wonder if that was for iTunes compatibility...

I would've thought that USB flash devices were pretty much compatible regardless of OS (in the case of drag and drop if nothing else)?!

I'm not a mac person though, so - don't know

Agree. Wonderful. I have been listening to a variety of genres today and it was effortless. It just eats anything I throw at it.

The mac I work on sometimes sees the 829 as a mass storage device, so I can just drag/drop music over. I would hope the X1000 to be the same. But I never used it with Itunes. So I can't comment on that.
