I have my hands ON the Sony X1000 Walkman - Impressions / Discussions - Page 14

So you picked one up also j_diddy?

I have to say, the more I listen to this, the more I think it goes beyond an MP3 player, and more into the realms of literal hi-fi, such is the clarity of its output

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Sony Walkman X Series 32 GB Video MP3 Player w/ OLED Display

@ Duncan after reading your impressions about the IE8 am more than sure that I can trust you ears haha.

By the way is it possible to use the device while it's being charged via USB?

Honeyboy...

Thanks for the compliment

Re charging... I don't have a mains power supply, so can't answer there, but - when connected to the PC, it acts as a disk-drive, and as such locks out user input - much the same as in previous generations...

I hope this helps

Does anyone with it currently know if it has line out? Or is that plug only for charging/transfer as with the previous ones? If it is a true line out, then it would be the perfect answer for me. I'm getting it regardless, but that would just be icing on the cake.

It has a line IN, I can say that much...

Can't answer though re a line out...

Thanks Duncan. It will be mine either way.

Hey, you should shoot some pictures of it paired with your JVC 1000's.... I'd love to see that combo.

Okay, you need to stop drinking vodka for breakfast

Of course it doesn't have a line out, it doesn't even have an on-the-fly playlist feature! (edited)

But I know you'll love it, especially the bass and extra power. Hope you're getting your album art sorted out, because that beautiful screen deserves nothing but the best. It's not about the music, it's about the screen. I mean it's not about the screen, it's about the music...

You can't do playlists? That's honestly a bit disappointing.... I was kind of looking forward to copying over my current playlists because I have ones for at work, and for painting, travel, etc.

I didn't know vodka was on the menu for breakfast? LOL!
You can do playlists, but there is no on-the-go playlist editor on the device itself.

Oops, sorry, I'll edit my post. I meant you can't create an on-the-fly playlist

cn11...

Apologies for the very poor picture quality here, is the middle of the night, and only have my cellphone to hand...

I hope it gives you an idea though (oh, and you'll see - the fingerprints are hard to avoid!!)

How can I still resist...
mosso2000-
Don't even bother trying..... and welcome to Head-Fi, you'll learn that resistance is futile.

Duncan-
Thanks for posting the image. That's a sweet portable rig, has to be one of the slickest in the whole community right now. The fingerprints don't look THAT bad... and the flash has illuminated the 'dandruff'. Ha ha ha....

lol, I didn't even noticed the glitter on the frontplate until I saw duncan's picture. The flash do highlight it well, but you won't see it under normal lighting. Perhaps under strong sunlight.
