I have my hands ON the Sony X1000 Walkman - Impressions / Discussions - Page 110

thx for the answers
silverknit3: Sony Style told my brother when he brought it a few days ago, that there's no case for it yet, i'm wondering if they'll have soon.

SOUNDinterpreter: that seems to be a pretty nice case too, it's price is also convincing. i think, this could be the best offer right now.
btw fortunately, i'm not interested in pink color

It's funny that you mention that because just before I went to bed last night I remembered that I did change the DAC settings on my A728, but I was too sick to get out of bed. I checked today and I set the DAC settings to default, and it still easily beats the X in volume. It's a bit odd how the player with a built-in digital amp isn't as loud as one that doesn't have one. I think I do have a defective sounding player. Everybody keeps talking about how loud and powerful it sounds, but I am not hearing it when compared to my A728 I will call Sony tomorrow.

To me it seemed not just how good the digital amp was sound Q wise with sounding un-digital, but the raw output power it seems to have which surprised me and only need to drive my Shure's at 16-18 on the dial and my Senn IE8's at 20-22 whilst i my A829 i had to have the same equivelent around 22-25.

No, i am not deaf!, not yet anyhow, i have regular hearing checks included with my yearly health check through work and currently my ears are grade A,
so do not need to drive them loud due to being deaf as mutton!

I have never heard the UM's, snd am sure that your Um's are good cans, but by law of average's and just a hunch, i would say it is more likely you need to find a pair of iem's that just have good synergy with the X, as i dont think either the UM's or the X by themselves are below average.

Maybe those FX500's? I personally find my Shure E500's a joy to listen with anything i have paired it with so far, even though on here some have said it is not the best suited out there with the X.

Personally, i would like to try the FX500's with the X after the praises sung with the synergy of them both, but am recouperating after post op on my wallet getting my AKG 702's with amp and modded cable!

Hope you find a perfect partner (for your X that is!)
Thanks for checking. I'm beginning to think it's my player that is defective if I have to listen at a louder volume than my A728 which is the same as your A829 but without bluetooth.

EDIT: And if, in fact, my X is defective, it might explain why PrinceOfEgypt had to listen to his IE8s at 30/30 with his now sold X.

ALSO, if anybody else can confirm that their X is louder than their A720/820 series walkman, I'd really appreciate it.

Yeah I really like the case a lot so far. I just looked at my old Sony silicone case and it feels gummy compared to the Inique silicone case.

I just ordered the i-nique crystal case and the silicone case and it came to $35 shipped to the US.

That cost less than a single "official" case (silicone or crystal) being hocked on eBay and the silicone case includes the screen protector.

Thanks SOUNDinterpreter.

leaflet2 gets you 12% off at the i-nique site.

Nice! I'm sure you'll be happy with both cases. Tell us how the crystal case is like when you get it.

How good compare with your mp3 files?
I'm listening to the radio and WOW. no static. no weaknesses. I cannot definitively say it sounds like a lossless file because I don't have the ears or files to tell you but it's AMAZING quality.

I tried the X with Sony MDR-V6's and... it could be better. As of now the stock headphones have the best synergy with the X. Shure's are fine and I love the detail I can hear but I am no music analyzer. I love the warm fun sound. Are the JVC's "fun"? I love putting in headphones and hearing a chaotic circus. Each performer is clearly in sight but just the in your face action from an enormous stage is just... thrilling. I seem to have issues with the wifi because the chip is weak in a way. Compared to laptops it does not have the distance. I'll stop by my local coffee shop and try their internet. The slacker application is exceptional. I couldn't ask for anything better I'll post pictures tomorrrow butmy pictures are not SLR quality.

Hello all,

Just a little update for anyone who's interested....

I've had the 32gb X since it came out and recently invested in a pair of Victor FX500's. I'd just like to say that I am extremely impressed with the pairing! I'm coming from a pair of Denon c-751's which themselves are decent phones. The Victors absolutely blow them out of the water! I literally cannot listen to the Denon's anymore as they sound brutally harsh. The Victor's have a real speaker like quality to them, something that I’ve never experienced in headphones before. The bass is also incredible! I listen to a lot of Dubstep and these are fantastic for it.

I can easily say that this pairing has even me the best audio quality I have ever owned (my home hifi is no slouch either!)

Has anyone managed to find somewhere to buy the original sony leather case for the X yet? I need it!

Adam

Where did you source the Victor FX500's from?

hey x owners . i wanna buy this players but i have some questions that i need your help to answer it to me.
1-i have a zune120, can anyone who have both players comment on the difference in sound quality between the 2(the features aint important to me just SQ )
2-if anyone who have the psp and the x, what is the difference in SQ? i compared my psp with my zune120 and found that the psp has cleaner clearer sound with slightly wider soundstage and a little bit more treble and sparkle than the zune, but if the x is similar to the psp then i have to pass because the difference isnt that large betweene psp and zune.
3-i use my zune with the ie8 and it sounds gr8, will it have the same synergy with the x?and will i hear any kind of hiss?my zune only make noises when going through menus and when shifting songs but it nevers interfer when playing music. is this the case with the x?
sorry for my long questions but this is serious money we are talking about(i can buy zune120 for 200 bucks less than the x 32gigs!)
thx for any help in advance and damn you headfi for ruining my wallet

My A829 is louder than my X. To achieve equal volume on both I have to set the X 2-3 steps higher. My Touch 2G is louder than both. I tested this using my ie8's, stock buds that came with the X, apple in ear with remote and mic and Denon D5000.

The X isn't dramatically quieter than the A829 and except for a few songs I find that the maximum volume is usually more than adequate. Being picky however, I would have prefered the volume output to be equal to my Touch 2G.

When I got the X I found my A808 was slightly louder then my X too; could be the different tonality (the A808 being more treble orientated) or the delicious smoothness of the X that invites me to turn up the volume.

Just joined u guys half an hour ago, waiting for it to charge up a little. Can't wait to hear it over my beloved A828.....ughh!!! c'mon man charge yourself up, why in the heck they do not ship these things charged up anyways....gırrr!!!! givin' me a hearth attack...

I'm wondering why there are many contradictions between the volume output with the X. Many claim that it is more powerful than their older Sony model, including this guy...

jon's weblog: Sony Walkman X-Series 32GB NWZ-X1060 review

...who states
"With my S730, I can comfortably listen at a volume setting of 14/30 in outdoors, where as with the X-series I have the volume at 11/30. In quiet areas my volume setting is 3/30."

And he is talking about the X with his IE8s.

I always thought the IE8s required more power than something like the UM2/UM3X. I really can't hear much at all with 3/30 setting with my westones, not with the X anyways.
