Sharp objects may not scratch a screen, but exposure to seemingly small abrasives that are part of every day life, such as grit and sand particles, do cause damage.

Yes, because some mineral particles are harder than glass- even hardened or tempered glass. garnet is common and is about 8 in hardness and will easily scratch glass.

lol

Well I did scratch my touch's screen When it fell on my cars floor carpet. So even with chemically treated glass, I use a screen saver

As as mentioned in earlier post, I will get the DAP if the price if attractive, and now, it is in my hand and listening to Eagle's Hotel California Live (1994) . I DISABLED all the effects, EQ and sound enhancements, and with UM3X, one word... AWESOME , but cannot overtake my D10 yet The bass strong and punchy, mids/vocal and highs are clean, smooth and enough to satisfy my ears. Good match for Trance, J-Pop and anime songs. Need to listen more ... ...

The NC earphones vs UM3Xs? Mmmm.. no competition at all .

The READ speed is around 4 MBytes/s, benchmarked with GNU/Linux's hdparm.

BTW : My last Sony Walkwan was WM-DD9

Thank you.

Anyone know how to create playlists on this X?

I dragged all my mp3's over manually (can't be arsed with sync'ing or album art etc) but now would like to put some playlists on.

Make a playlist through wmp, media monkey ect. And then sync the playlist. That should do it. I'm trying my first one myself in a few minutes, hopefully... it works Yep, works a charm.

You can also do it through windows explorer, as mass storage. Just right click on a song, and choose 'make playlist'. You'll see the playlist appear in that window. Then you can double click the playlist to open it. Have both the playlist and the explorer window open, and then you can drag songs over and drop them in the playlist. You can use the arrows to rearrange the songs, and you can name it. Then click 'ok' to finalize it. It will be in whatever band's folder you start with, but you can just move it out to the generic music folder if you wish.

Hope that helps.

Just picked up my Ice Black NW-X1060 from Japan. I like its look, but that mirrored back is a fingerprint magnet! The US SonicStage CP 4.3 will not recognize the NW-X1060, but you can drag and drop ATRAC files onto the device. So you only need SonicStage to encode the files, not transfer them. I confirmed that gapless is still intact with ATRAC files

I've only listened to it a bit, but I can already tell I like it a bit better than the Kenwood even with using Kenwood Lossless. My ATRAC3+ files are encoded at 352. I'm using the IE8s for my headphones.

The radio is pretty much useless here in the USA since it only has the Japanese frequencies, although I tried 89.7 (WGBH) here in Boston and it sounded nice.

The packaging is really nice on the Japanese model and the box is really small, but first class.

I downloaded the English manual from Sony's Europe Support site, so I'm all set ...

Drag and drop Atrac? Brilliant.

Now Sony, why can't we have that?

It is, actually. Now had they done that with their earlier players ...

This one is definitely a keeper. The Kenwood will be up for sale soon!

That matches my thoughts too, the Kenwood was good, but the X is better!

I am really sick with jealousy that you have drag and drop Atrac capability - no, really I am!!!!!!!!!!!

The Kenwood HD60GD9EC isn't a slouch as a player, either.

The CKL-NWX1000 is the case to get, too. I like the way you can "stand up" the player; worlds better than that flimsy plastic leg thing that came with the NWZ-A829 which I used only for video. You can access all functionality and buttons in the case. To access Hold, you just slightly tip out the piece which is holding the player in the case. You can use the player with the buttons only if the case is closed, and even access volume and the WM-Port.

The Privacy Filter I think is also better than the one I have on the NWZ-A829 (which I only used for video) and will be a screen protector so I won't get fingerprints on it.
