In need of advice

Sorry if this has been done ad nauseam but help is greatly appreciated,

I'm looking to get some upgraded heaphones for the home and have been trying to do some research and looked at several different models, but I am becoming overwhelmed. And it's very hard for me to decide without being able to actually listen for myself. I am currently using these Bang & Olufsen earphones:

Earphones - Bang & Olufsen

They sound fantastic, and are great for traveling (street use), but they are lacking in solid sounding bass for me. I am by no means an audiophile, but I'm trying to get there.

I listen to all types of music (though mostly rock, alt, and rap) so I need some good range (I suppose). However, I do listen to a LOT of live music (lossless format: DMB, Widespread, Phish, etc...) through my computer or iPod (which is 256 kbps). So, I've been looking for some good home headphones...which would be open or closed (correct?)

My price range is about 150 give or take. Anyways, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks for any suggestions.

Cheers

AD700 or the AD900

The Alessandro MS-1 may also be a good alternative. Keep looking in the 'for sale' forum.

Ultrasone HFI-780, anyone?

I personally love the sound of the ATH-A700s for closed cans, and the only open cans I've heard are SR-60s which are great but if you have $150 to spend there's probably better than that.

So...I think I've narrowed it down to the Ultrasone HiFi-780, the Sony MDR-7506 (anyone know the difference between this and the "Sony Pro" model?), or possibly the AD-700.

I can't find a store located near me to listen to any of these in person though...any further recommendations?

Thanks again.

I would recommend the Audio Technica ATH-M50. I just got a pair from guitar center and testing right now. I'm about into my 4 hr in and the sound very nice which fairly balance sound but with a slight edge to the treble. I have driven them with my computer and my ipod and still sound fantastic. I would give them a proper test tomorrow morning when I receive my iBasso D10 tomorrow. Just missed the DHL man by an hr.

PS If you try them headphones I would recommend giving them at least a hr or two to sound decent.
