There are so many suppliers for different small components... We are waiting for one of them before we assemble HM801, test and ship out. We were told that they will finish early next week. This is an unexpected delay. The longer and earlier delay was from Texas Instrument dealer (PCM1704UK vender). We must be careful at the begining so that we have to make relative small 1st and 2nd batches. 3rd batch will be 1000 pcs hopefully, and will save us from the delay-delay situation finally.

battery life is at least 7 hours no problem. also while power off charging, it seems like only take an hour or 2 to fully charge.... i found this odd though~ is every one else the same ? i m surprise how fast it charge or its not true and it is not fully charge just may be 60~80% really ? |

I was checking out the battery and the circuit with my Fluke meter. It appears that the battery pack, is actually two separate batteries, one being +9 volts and one being −9 Volts. If you look at the charger, there is a plastic piece so that you don't reverse polarity by accident. I measured the inside and the outside of each of the "prongs" and each prong is providing each battery 9 Volts at the same time, one positive and one negative.
So, this is why it is able to charge fully in 2-4 hours being that each battery has it's own charging circuit. If you look on the charger, it says: AC 110v~ ———————————————----#1 DC 9V 1000mA ———————————————----#2 DC 9V 1000mA This is probably offering the ability to charge in a much shorter duration, then say, an iPod or my Blackberry. With the battery pack broken into split voltages, and the battery life lasting between 7-8 hours, you gotta think that these chips in the amp and the DAC, are pulling some serious power, which attributes to the quality of the sound. That's the secret. The magic ingredient, so to speak. |

Considering I will be out of town for a 2 weeks after New Year, is there any way to delay the shipment of my 801?

I'm sort of close to getting this player. I'm going to get a case made here in India. If I get the player and it's shipped considerably before March 20th, 2010 then I'll do a video review followed by an in-depth article review with photos.
If it arrives afterwords, I'll be back in India and will have to wait until I go back to America again (the following August, at the earliest -- and I've been told that I might not get to go back during that time). This is all considering I can convince my parents to buy this for me. I have $200 from my birthday. I also have my sister who wants to get me a gift so she'll contribute (hopefully $100-200). That narrows it down to a $300-400 purchase. Which is in the vicinity of how much I spent on my Cowon A3. Hopefully my parents will let me buy it... Although, they're definite skeptics. Even as much as I've researched this player, I'm having trouble getting them to believe it's the real deal. |
