Hi Fang,

I've never received any email notifications and hasn't got the discount code for the HDTrack. Can you send it back to me?

I don't know if this would happen, but I would love to know what important chips are in the HiFiMAN and also what they do and perhaps why they were chosen.

I am asking an awful lot, but I am just a bit curious.

Search, and ye shall find.

I don't think you'll get a good answer to this question and I'll try to explain why (and this is just my advice, no offense whatsoever intended)...

You're question is too general and it's clear (as immtbiker points out) that you haven't done much background research. It's like asking a mechanic what important parts there are in a car...

Moreover, it also depends on what you think is important and in this case, you could actually argue that *all* chips are important since if you remove any one of them, the HiFiMan would not work (since as far as I know, there are no useless "chips" in the HiFiMan .

But most importantly, you're asking a question that only required a few seconds of your time but you're looking for a reply that probably could take up to a few hours in order to compile. This is an imbalance that basically guarantees that you will not receive a good reply...

Instead, I think you'll have to ask questions that show that you have done your "homework" and that requires a lot less effort to reply to, for example "Why was chip xxx chosen when chip yyy definitely has better signal-to-noise-ratio?".

Just my 2 cents...

Now How Do You Feel?

Check these pics out (The quality is bad) but I grabbed this "Wired" (Dec 2009) magazine from my Dr's office today. It has the HiFiMan801 in it !!

Its hard to read but it says:

HiFiMan 801 Media Player
Sure, you could settle for a mainstream media player.
But good luck cracking that sucker open.
This portable supports audiophile formats like APE, FLAC, and OGG.
And with a couple of twists with a Phillips, you can swap in whatever amplifier you fancy.
Try that with your Touch and the voided warranty will be the least of your worries. /$750

That cool or what?

1st batch. Ordered August 1st.

Do I format my memory card with the Player, or does it support FAT32 or other usual formats?

The 801 is really cool. Can't wait for the coming out of the high end amp module.

How do I charge the battery via USB on a PC? When I plugged it into a MAC, the bars on the battery indicator started moving, assuming the charging engaged. When I plug it into my PC, which is the only potential power source I have right now for the player (don't have an adapter for the power supply ), it only states "USB Data Exchange" and doesn't charge.

Only got to listen to this thing for about an hour.. Gonna be a long night.

You did make sure it's plugged directly into a USB port, right? Not a hub?

Don't have one of these, but my iPod touch will be the same way on a hub, will talk, but not charge. (as there's not enough power on a hub unless the hub itself is plugged into an outlet).
