Clearly very very lazy. I think it is time to break out the whips

I just got my replacement HM-801 today. I really missed having the HM-801. Unfortunately, the high frequency noise issue is still there, but fortunately, it seems to be noticeably quieter, and seems to be mostly on the left side. Weird.

Otherwise, it sounds just as awesome. Did I mention that I missed having it?

It clicked on May 19, 2009.
It was shipped on September 30, 2009, and it arrived at Japan on October 2, 2009.

System info of my HM-801 is "Version:0.05 Date:2009-08-29"

I would say that it is something in your area giving off noise, but I heard yours in NYC with the same noise through the JH-13's and the ESW-10's.

Strange that the second unit would exhibit the same symptoms. Do you wear braces? Maybe try taking off your glasses, or move your cell phone in another room.
Wasn't there a report back, earlier in the year, that people with iPhones were hearing squealing noises on their D10 DAC when in close proximity?

No, I don't wear braces or have a significant amount of metal in/on my body that could cause problems. It does not change no matter where I move around. When there is interference from a phone it changes and gets louder when the phone is closer or is ringing. It's likely coming from the HM-801. Unless it's that poorly shielded, in which case, I can't see why a $600+ DAP should be more prone to RF interference than a $60 one.

The unit I tried seemd to be about as poorly shielded against rf as any of the iBasso amps.
I notice that I get the squealing noises only when my battery is about to die. Sort of like listening to an amp after you turn it off, and the caps are still discharging.

Ed, where do you live? Maybe I can send you mine, and you can see if you still have the problem. Mine does not make any of these RF noises anywhere that I go (planes, trains, hotels, and automobiles).

If the DAC IC is a PCM1704, is its internal digital filter (8x OS) engaged, or is an external DF used (like DF1704)? If DF1704 isn't used, I suggest HiFiMAN to incorporate it into a future design. It's the PCM1704's matching (and performance enhancing) digital-domain IC and really is worth it.

(This query may have been answered -- I've only scanned this thread)

PCM1704U(UK) x 2, DF1704E, DIR9001 and PCM2707 is used for HM-801.

Some may have missed it, but on another thread, Fang has confirmed that all units in preorder batch 2 (ordered before the preorder was paused in the last few days) will recieve the PCM1704UK chip for sure
