Updated: HifiMAN HM-801 Portable Music Player Preorder - Page 27

Perhaps, but my guess is, when the price hits $650.00 - $800.00 people will demand (and they'll have the right to) a player that is at least equally equipped if not better equipped than the initial release. Waiting is sometimes good. Huge strides in technology are being made every day. Seems like just yesterday we were fighting with Windows 98...lol
The last thing I would want is a system that was "hastily thrown together"

Hi all, what about probable difference in DAC component for HM 801? Is there any possibility for marketing trick (for example they want to improve (pollute) sound quiality without any revealment) - I hope this is just my fear. If so what another candidate we have?

Head Direct is a great company in which I have done considerable business with and I have the utmost faith in. They have had great customer service as well as innovative products. Not to worry.

As time passes, people will see my point. The idea of audio equipment is to get the best you can afford. I'm not worried about the price increase, I'm really not. What rubs me the wrong way is the fact that the quality on these systems might differ from unit to unit (I should say batch to batch) yet the price will continue to rise.
I say, go ahead, if the reviews are overwhemingly positive, raise the price. But don't change the formula.
When was the last time you walked into a car dealership with money ready to buy and the dealer said "You better buy today because tomorrow the price is going up" No problem I can accept that. What I can't accept is the dealer saying "You better buy today because the price is going up tomorrow and by the way, we are also eliminating the anti-lock brakes, the heated seats and the passenger airbag. I know I know, thats extreme but you get my point.
I've missed out on a few group buys. It stinks but you deal with it. To miss a group buy and then be told we can't guarantee as good a product because you missed the group buy is ridiculous not to mention bad business.

Great . But question about alternative candidate is still here. Why do you think we don't know possible replacement. It's very high time we knew it - right now many people want to preorder HM-801.

warm welcome Dymer i understand how you feel , about a week ago i was in the same situation and hoping i got lucky to snap up a UK chip one but only hoping coz i know how unfair it would be as i placed my order in early Aug, i compared myself with people made orders in May and i know it is only fair if i do miss out.

at one stage UK chip will run out and Nankai cant make every one happy~ i myself also made extra request such as include SD card etc which really isnt big deal and i can just get one myself, and my friend here also made request about having a special make battery just like samsung lol so yeah, may be i m bit spoiled i guess lol and Nankai isnt doing it for charity although as much as he wants HiFiman to make a big big entrance, he can only do this much ~

any way, i really feel for you! good news is you know u r way way ahead in pre-order II could be the very 1st of group II so be positive !

i cross my finger that the supplier got the order fill and u'll have your baby in time just as you wished~ again welcome on board

my apologize if i pointed to you as reference about AMP3 owner, u r not the one that i pick on, but some AMP3 owner r really putting hifiman down, to be fair ~ the comparison only fair if people hear the sound of the player so may be AMP3 is best atm for DAP thats ready to buy and available on the market (i use may be because i seriously dont wanna draw any more argument from the Sansa/Corwon/Apple/Imod camp~ spare me please)

sorry to put you on the spot my friend

its all there in the tea leaves to decipher!
i agree with you~ i enter audio really late and that kind of sucks as only if i knew i would have bought many great headphones now value way more than when they initially introduced since i have the capacity to do so~ i read some headphones now worth few grant used to be only few hundred dollars when they 1st introduce such as AKG or others etc but then again ~ i wonder people with more than 3+ headphones at home, how much time they really spend sitting down and enjoy the music ? the time you spend to run-in each of them ? hence i wish i will never go overboard and try stay with 2~3 headphones max through out the process. a great headphone should grow with times and like a fine wine

i just hope headphones are much easier to maintain than vintage watch, the oil wash and tuning is really not some thing you wanna bother with, i m amazed some people have over 20+ vintage watches and continuesly maintain them and oil wash them and winding them, damn its really expensive hobby there

i have to say i think there is a stratigically error made here to be honest, 1st people wait too long for the product to materialize, combined with generous gesture to offer better spec which isnt initially introduce at beginning.

i think the best way to settle the dust is to have the product out of the door as soon as possible so people will stop demanding more (sorry, i too made an extra request which isnt necessary justify i suppose) and as soon as people start writing about reviews and accept the product as it is ~ then may be things will start to quiet down.

i will learn from this experience and if i m in the similar position to introduce a product, i suppose i shall know what to avoid getting into similar situation as Nankai now ( which is unlikely as i m in finance area~ not any kind of goods. by the way, why is that Ray and Justine dont get similar complain or demand from their customer? i dont really follow their thread, is there any business approach they do to prevent this from happening ? )

woody my friend, i think car dealership example is a bad example that really isnt a issue in the 2nd part you mention as that happen all the time ! dont we always walk into a car shop and get told that for extra features you have to pay more ? or the offer of free extra features expired ??

so what you really worry about is more like the built quality of the car and in this case you r worry about the music would sound different between different batch

for business world, its very easy to deal with that situation actually, cars made on 2008 and car made on 2009 although completely same car but price would be different or the feature r different and price either same or different but you wouldnt hear the customer complain about it~ as customer would just say it's 2008 made and this is 2009 made

another way to deal with it is the car maker would just modify it a little and crown with some thing like special edition,or version 2 or europe version etc etc and customer still buy that explanation and happy about it

and we all know some times the car from outside look only a bit such as the butt look sharper instead of more curvy etc while the bones and frame r totally exactly the same but customer still happy because it look different ! even just a bit

so my suggestion is quickly snap up your order as if not ur wish might just come true as HiFiMan version II could come out and although the inside is different the price is also different too~ oh damn i talk too much

any way, we will soon find out the answer and may be the difference between UK and non UK chip isnt really that substantial unless you got a really special ear and headphones too right now the only difference UK chip made is just to make 1st batch owner (that include me) feel like a winner , which if you really think about it just plain silly any way lol wish the dust settle down quickly

I am too lazy to read all the comments by test〜 above,
but Woody469 should have found HM-801 earlier and had to make an order earlier.
Pre-order have started 3 months ago.

I've already stated price is not an issue with me personally.

HiFiMan version II ?

Yes, you do.

May Fang confirm if there are 2 versions of amp modules for the HiFiMan and how can we our preferences?

I'll bet real money that the vast majority of you will not be able to tell the difference between a U-K and non U-K in a double blind test.
