If I ordered and paid for this unit right this minute would I be getting the UK chip? If so, I'd bite this second. By the way, where is the link to do just that?

i agree with you totally, i for one not interest in chasing all the stack gears or multiple phones any more ~ you only got 1 set of ears, 24 hrs per day and you can only listen to this much music per day if take into consideration to protect your ears.

i would rather prefer to use the time to listen to good music instead of chasing that ultimate system endlessly~

its like the old days, one could fall into the old time ultimate PC system games and chasing or squeezing to clock the PC to the fastest system possible and complete missed the point from the beginning.its about the music, thats why i bought HiFiman, may be alone the way i will upgrade the cables and get a larger headsets but i dont wanna worry about how to maintain stack of headphones, just one or 2 at one time is enough to keep me paranoid. lol

Looks very very dope. But I'm gonna wait for user reviews and road tests.

Great work, though Head-Direct. Always love it when folks raise the bar.

rock on!

The wait is half the fun. I can safely say that I am now ready for the other half.

Hi all,

Was looking for a new DAP and stumbled upon this thread (and site). Glad I did. Concur with above sentiments: the HM-801 seems ace.

For those who are interested:

Just received an email from Head-Direct stating that the UK chips are still available for pre-orders.

Updat Aug 30th

The first batch (with PCM1704UK) was sold out. Preorder section II (650USD) will last from Sept 2009 to Early Oct 2009. Customer at preorder section II will receive their players in the second or third week of Oct 2009. Final retail price will be about 750 to 800USD.

We have sent an PCM1704UK order (for second batch) to our supplier. However, we will not confirm the second batch will be PCM1704UK version until we receive those DAC chips.

We have finished most of manufacturing work of the first batch (Preorder section I) on Aug 25th. We need several days to finish QC. We will start to ship out the player from the first weekend of Sept. We will ship 10 to 20 pcs per week in Sept 2009.

I am worrying about the schedule delay.
Nankai have mentioned that he would start shipping 31th August, but he could not keep it, again...
What will it happen at this weekend?

However, we decide to delay another week because we wish to do the last improvement: paint. Because anodic oxidation surface is very easy to have scratch problem, we decide to try teflon metal paint. Teflon metal paint will provide 5H hardness, resistance to chemical corrosion and 300C (or 572F) high temperature. Teflon surface will be polished as well. We will receive finished casing sample from our supplier in next 48 hours. If everything is all right, we will post a picture soon.
BTW, how did the Teflon paint finish turn, out, Fang?

No.
That is the reason why he couldn't ship until the end of August.
Actually, he postponed the shipping one more week by some QC problem, as he mentioned above.
I hope the QC problem is not so serious.

i dont think u r worry, you sound more like upset of the delay and un-happy about it

i m too lazy to go back and read again ,but if my memoney serve me right, it was not "problem" but more like QC procedures. well, it will only take another 5 more days to find out and extra find days max to have it delivered~ why dont we just wait?? people in the previous page been waiting since even may

by the way, Nankai mention that order placed before 30,Aug will have UK chip
