Would the Fiio E5 be enough to power HD595's coming out of a Cowon iAudio 7?

When I listened to the sound for the 1st time, I was hit by it. I was punched by the not-punchy-bass. I was hoping it would offer much better bass response than SE315.. equals to Klipsch Image...

Your Cowon iAudio 7 alone, should be enough to power the HD-595s, my Zune and i-pod nano could at least, very loud too.

So I would be better off looking into a DAC instead of an amp for the cowon?

IMO don't go Fiio, its not worth the money. Look for a portable DAC/Amp.

Seems like it would be hard to not be worth the money if it's just $10 or so.

my e5 can drive the hd 580 to enough listening level, but only in terms of loudness. but there's a gap between it and getting straight from the hp out of the ipod though.
I think it's fine the hd 595 if you havent touched any >100$ before, you get what you pay eventually

would the bass boost help the HD595 in this aspect?

I don't have HD595's, so I don't know if I will be much of a help, but I do have HFI-580's which can be kind of hard to drive and my E5 does drive them to pretty loud volumes and they sound pretty good. the bass boost, helps a little, though its kind of subtle. It definitely doesn't sound as good my larger portable amp, but it does a nice job is a LOT smaller. for $24 (and I believe a 30 return policy), its definitely worth a try.
