Amp for Grado SR80 - Page 2

You really will not need an amp with the SR80s. I have tried these with all my amps and there is no difference IMO. They are driven just fine with an Ipod or any DAP. Save your money and jump up the Grado line a bit. Just my opinion of course. Enjoy!

sr80 was my entry into good headphones. and i enjoyed it for a long time without an amp. when i eventually got an amp, i was wondering what the big deal was b/c the amp did very little for the sr80. then i moved up to the sr325...and i saw the value of an amp.

i'm of the group that says don't bother with an amp for the sr80...instead, move up the chain and enjoy it ampless for awhile then get the amp.

I have the sr80's and they are great, I use them both amped with a bithead with my portables (don't really use them at home), though I really don't need it. However, you may want want to think about the 125's. They probably aren't that much better, but they are a slight step up and not that much more money. Whichever, the Grado's are great cans.
