I'm actually using Foobar + DS (little time for changing/charging CD's on a transport) with Musiland 01 USD.
Overall neutral. Maybe the bass body a little shy/analytical for my tastes but mids are great and highs never harsh. I'm feeding it with a QED Qonduit PCM which enhances this issue. Waiting for a Van den Hul Mainstream Hybrid to see how it performs.
Looking forward to DA11 whom I'm reported to be a bit warmer. But give time to time.
Enjoying anyway!!!

I ordered my wa22 last week and can't wait to receive it.
I am looking for balanced DAC's to use with it. I am considering audio gd ref5, ps audio DLIII, stello sig, but open to any ideas. Like the Lavry, its hard for me to justify paying for a unit that is a dac/amp combo when I won't be utilizing the amp component of it. Any thoughts?

I would order one if I knew it could drive the K1000 without strain.

With the Sylvania 7236 tubes I thought it sounded good with the K1000, but this was at RMAF in a noisy room and I didn't spend a lot of time with it. At the time it seemed better than my ZDT with K1000.

Now that is a strong statement, because the K1000 demands so much power to drive them to their best. I have heard people say the ZDT is the best sounding amp the with K1000!
I guess the 7236 is putting out allot of current in order to respond so well with the K1000 at 2 watts, truly amazing at that low power.
Now it really makes it interesting and encouraging to get one.
My LD MK6 put out 5 watts at 120 ohms which the company targeted the K1000 and quite frankly sound great. But the design is aim at the high impedance phones and does not have synergy with my low impedance Grados.
Knowing that the WA22 can be switched from LO/HI impedance is a added feature.

It was the sound signature that was better, but not the power. Although the prototype WA22 during the summer wasn't as good as the ZDT with K1000, the final version of WA22 seen at RMAF was a little better in terms of balance and speed.

So than the power was not as good but the sound signature was better. When you say the power was not as good in what way.
Again at 2 watts I would expect volume pot must be up high creating distortion of some kind.
Sound signature better... how, more liquid, deeper, imaging transparent. Please explain more detail.

I just got my 22 last Saturday, Jack delivered it to me at the Charlotte meet. Monday my RS-1s are going out to be re-cabled. I believe I'll have them done with the single 4pin, it seems more convenient.

The WA22's treble seemed to have a little better sparkle as well as more speed or definition on the leading edge of transients, while the ZDT sounded a little more blurred on the edges. The imaging was similar, and neither one tightened up the bass like I would have liked. Remember, it was in meet conditions.
At RMAF wiatrob's EHHA was also a little better than ZDT with the K1000, but with a 3 week loan of the EHHA I found the SAC KH1000 amp to be even better than EHHA. I don't know where the WA22 would stand in relation to those other amps, because I didn't have them here myself for an extended listen.
