Panel - Beta22 What Do You Think?

Does this panel design do justice to the Beta22? Comments/suggestions?

Nice and simple. I like it. I am not crazy about the font, but that is just a personal choice. I would also use the greek character beta rather than spell it out. The lines will be red? Also no sigma? Or is it one case?

Also, I don't know what knob you are going to use, but if it is very deep, it may be difficult to read the Beta 22 writing. Considering that you may want to move the writing to the top or something to make sure it is visible.

I rather like the use of script on the front of high end amps.

Single ended or balanced? I say this because I'd like to know what the two holes are going to be used for to pass further comment. What is the measurement units, they do not seem to scale.

As design the logo would probably work better offset to the LHS. The red pin line around the volume should match the weight and distance from the edge as the large red rectangle pin line. They need to be balanced out. Also watch the corner radius of these as well, they look way to big, use the actual curve at the edge for your central guide.

Will your panel be black? Are you going to get the text and red lines silk screened? Be sure to find a someone that can lay a nice opaque white and red red ink down over a black substrate, there's nothing worse than thin ink on black. Have a think about this as this will be tricky to get a smick looking job, the design lends itself to print problems.

Nice looking panel. I like the symmetry.

How are you going to mount the volume pot? Is there another plate behind it with a smaller hole?

As a matter of personal taste I don't like having screws visible on the front plate, but you'd have to blind tap the back of the panel to mount it without those holes, and that certainly complicates things (and is impossible in some cases).

Hmmm. Are those holes on either side of the volume 1/4" jacks? XLR's? or one 1/4" and one power switch? Also I think white or silver trim striping would look nicer than red. I also think there should be a little more space between the volume knob and the LED. But thats just personal design preference. Lastly, as others have said, definitely use the greek letter β.

I think it looks quite nice.
Like others I think you should replace "Beta22" with the greek letter beta "β22" though.

Black and red looks a little bit cheap, in my opinion. If I was casing a top-class amplifier, I'd want it to look like a top-class amplifier, and not a video games console. Silly little coloured rings around the outline of the case and the volume knob just seem a little bit tacky. It does look exceptional when a lighted ring is used, however, such as in kramathis' case.

I also agree with the others about using the greek letter for beta.

What is the material that you are using for your case / front panel? If the plan is to use acrylic (similar to Amb's B22 case), the black gloss could look quite good. I'm not sure about black a full case of black alu, though - they always look so 'mid-fi' *shrug*

All noted. I'll search for greek font. This design is with 3/8" high-gloss acrylic for the front panel. I thought I would do an inlay with some red acrylic but will probably scrap the idea and go with a lighted ring (or no ring). The two holes on either side of the knob opening are for 1/4" jacks. Measurement of front panel is 4"X12"X3/8." The knob I will be using is 2"x1.5" deep. I'm also toying with the posibility of doing the panels in carbon fiber.

Thanks for the input.

What about make the red ring , frosted clear acrylic and light it red or orange.

I would invert the colors, make black to red and red to black. Paint that sucker with car paint and get it done by a pro shop, it will be slick and shiny.

Thanks all for the constructive critisism. I've decided, I'm going to do the entire case in carbon fiber (DragonPlate™) with either highly polished aluminum or stainless accents. The most dificult part will be cutting out the greek letter "beta." Hopefully, my decades old jewlery skills will come in use.
