Monster Turbine vs Beats by Dr. Dre Tour. I'm I getting this wrong?

I've read a fair bit about both the Monster Turbine and Beats by Dr. Dre Tour's. Am I wrong, or is the general message that these are basically the same, albeit via a different design?

It seems the Tours have a bit of a fitting problem, and of course you get the usual 'These aren't as good as my ipod earphones' rant, but is it as simple as choosing which design you like, because they're basically the same?

From what I have read, the Turbines have a bit less bass and a bit more treble than the Beats Tours. I have found the Turbines to have a great balance of bass, mids, and treble, and no fit issues for me. They are my recommended IEMs right now, matching many of the positive characteristics of Grados, while retaining a very natural timbre for acoustic instruments. Not all agree, but they compare favorably to my SE530s and TF10s.

Of course, one person's opinion, YMMV.

X2 in regards to the Turbines, they are very good in all areas. The only thing the Beats may have on them is a better cable (if you don't mind a very OBVIOUS cable).

The Turbines are also cheaper by quite a bit (at least they are at Future Shop in Canada).

I just listened to both of them and I would like to clarify this:

The Beats do not have more bass than the Turbines. The Tours have less bass, far less actually, so much so that it baffles me. The lower bass extension is not there... very sharp roll off for the bass actually. I don't know why they opted to do this, but the Beats Tours are not bass monsters by any stretch. I tried them with Comply TX400 tips to make sure it wasn't a fit issue, and they absolutely did not have the lower bass that makes the Turbines so yummy.

Like someone said, the only thing the Tours has over the Turbines is the very, very nice cable (though it's a bright red). If only they had given the Turbines the same cable, or if they had given the Tours the same sound as the Turbines (why, oh why didn't they? Idiots)
