I've commited a crime... knifed the K701's. - Page 7

All relative I guess, but K701 really isn't that expensive in my books. I bought it second hand for pretty cheap anyway. And the bottom of the headband doesn't get looked at too much (especially when it's on my head!), so I'm okay with the looks. It doesn't need to be so much of an eye candy with me.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

i'd just cover the bottom with felt or something and call it a day, nobody would ever know.

THere has to be a way to simply reverse the headband and put the bumps facing the sky......

or by swapping the 601 headband.... :)

Looks like the k601 band is PN 2458M9801

And the snaps for the 601's are 2458Z4601 and 2458Z4411

And the snaps for the 701's are 2458Z4602 and 2458Z4412

Time to get a quote from AKG

Yeah, now that the proper steps for the K601 headband replacement is known, it would be the best for users to take that approach now if they can.  Too bad it wasn't around a year ago, I could have kept the resale value of my K701 up a bit more... (I did end up selling it when I moved on to HD800, though in my first post on this thread I didn't think I would)

mod already done.....

I think I may just flip the band over, get some rivets from Joann Fabrics and put it back together.

or simply order order some HD800's :)

If  you can do that, then I highly recommend it.

have you considered toughening up your head instead? tongue_smile.gif

I never understood this "clamp" business people talk about with the k701/2's. I have k702s and they fall of my head if I turn it too quickly. They have borderline no clamp at all!

Same for me, I think people just have big heads which why theres clamping.

how to toughen your head.  Maybe do this before wearing k701.

The Overall Look (of how it should have been in the first place IMO)

The view of the headband after the surgery.

Closer view. Planning to take those black leather bits off eventually (glued on pretty hard).

The remains of the "Tumor". HAHAHAHAHAHA DIE DIE DIE DIE *ahem*....

As you see, the bumps have these baby blue foams that ultimately don't bring you any comfort.

The back of the bumps. The foams are attached to this black leather strip which is then glued on to the headband.

And there you have it. Yes, it looks horrible but the comfort it brings is more than worth it. I'd obviously won't suggest this to anyone who may sell the K701 in the future as this would have any kind of resale value to nosedive, but for those who like them and have trouble with the bump comfort, give it a try (if you dare).

I hate when the images are missing in old threads mad.gif
