[Advice needed] 2.0 Multimedia nearfield speakers (1000€/1200$)

Hello to all the community (I am not good at introducing myself )

I am building a new rig and was planning to get a decent 2.0 Computer Speakers system. Maximum budget would be around 1000€/1200$.

I own an ASUS Xonar Essence STX and a HD650 for one week. I have to say I am pretty new to audio systems, but up to now I have found pretty nice opinions about the Dynaudio MC15's which fit in the price range.

They are aimed at movies, gaming and, especially, hard rock and heavy metal music. They need to be nearfield as they are going to be heared at the 60cm-80cm range most of the time.

Every piece of advice will be apreciated

Many thanks.

Welcome to Head-Fi - let's empty that wallet

Hmm, usual suspects would be: Blue Sky Media Desk 2.1 system, Adam A7s, Yamaha MSP7s, Dynaudio BM5As or dropping down a model in those respective ranges and getting a sub, which I think you'll appreciate with your tastes. Or maybe just the Yamaha HS80Ms for the oomph from the larger cabinet size.

I think the HS80Ms would be best for your application, on the assumption you'll appreciate the visceral powar and fun over a flat frequency response and strict accuracy.

How much would you miss the bass? Quad 12L actives are great nearfield monitors, but might not have enough bass for pop/rock. You could always add a sub later.

Thank you so much

I'll have a look at the BM5A's and HS80M's. Visceral power sounds right to the sort of music I like

I would look at:

- Dynaudio BM5A. If you are never going to use a sub, I'd recommend these over the MC15 for your musical taste
- Adam A7
- Quad 12L

and the Focal CMS50

which recently won the MIPA award. I never heard these but Focal speakers are usually very good

Thanks again.

And which will be a nice option if I decide to add a bass to the system? Although the budget gets a bit higher (2000$ would be the absolute maximum now ).

A pair of BM5A's and a BM10S?

Hot or not hot?

+1 for Dynaudio BM5A. I think you could probably find a much better sub than the Dynaudio for less money though. SVS or HSU will give more bang for the buck. The measurements on the last Dynaudio sub I saw reviewed were not great.

Also, if you are considering the MC-15 you might as well just get the BM5A Compact unless you think the grill and the little stands are worth $200+ dollars. They are the same speaker, but the MC-15 has RCA inputs and the BM5A has XLR inputs.
