altec lansing has been around for quite a while, i have a nice set of 4.1's i got from them about 10 years ago. Seems they died down on their pc speakers in the past years, but they tend to sound better than the majority of pc sludge that most companies put out. That being said....they are still pc speakers

Same old thing. Cheap, boomy, no mids and crappy construction. They look like Creative 2.1s. $42, that's about right. Don't expect much but they will be ok for making noise.

well, their stuff is alright with one giant caveat, for the money.

but then im guessing that for us$40 you didint think they were going to blow you away with their quality

Yes but why bother wasting $40 for sound that is cheap and not very enjoyable?

Oh these sound terrible. The least you should expect from cheap 2.1 computer speakers is boomy bass and these dont even deliver those. Dont even bother with these.

Lol I hope you're not going to spend hundreds on headphones only to cheap out on speakers...
