Was a fun meet!

Good to see everyone again.

My impressions the L3000 and DHA3000 combo were awesome, really nice solid bass good quantity and wasn't overwhelming. I really enjoyed how musical they were, they seemed to have a very black background and made me rethink what I've been purchasing up to now.

Here are some photos:

What a great way to spend Saturday afternoon. Nice to meet everyone!

Quick impressions:
- ATH-L3000, the closed headphone that doesn't sound at all closed. Super good balance with the matching Audio Technica amp.
- Oh those beautiful Darth Beyers (with microphone!) sounded good with tube amplification.
- My first listen to HD-650, the civilized headphone. From a vinyl source. Yay!
- What were those silver grados? With these I really felt like I could be an operator on the bridge on the flying saucer in Forbidden Planet. And nice with the Lisa amp.
- My Eureka(!) moment was listening to the AKG K-702 via the Darkvoice 336 SE. Wow that was a nice match-up.

The Grados are the original HP-1s with the polarity switches. They get a lot of praise around here. I always like them but at some meets on certain setups, they sound amazing. Othertimes I just don't find them musical enough. Really liked them with the Darkvoice tube amp today. The AKG 702 with that amp was quite good as well

It was nice to see new faces at the meet. Curbfeeler and his vinyl rig. Led Zepplin was great on it, drool, drool.. Would love to have one but with a two year old in the house.... Oh no. I was very surprised with Flatmap's AKG 702's. Very nice with my Darkvoice 336se. Those Denon 7000's are just awesome. Josh is funny as hell. Want iamoneagain's mousepad. Where is that picture? more impressions later

When I get the HD800's we will have a impromptu meet on the Eastside and I'll bring my B22 and Buffalo

I just noticed that we had two threads, it looks like both our threads were created at the EXACT same time LOL

Thanks to Big Poppa for putting this meet on. I had a lot of fun and learned a great deal. I was able to get my first listen to a vinyl rig and tube amps. I never realized how easy it was to swap tubes to get a different sound from the amp. Ill have to get one in the future for sure. The vinyl was cool but I have to agree with Poppa about the todler wanting to play frisbee with your fav. record. I liked the d7000s but thought the highs were a little bright for me, but with the right amp im sure they would be just fine. I always lean toward bass so the d7000 would be right up my alley. I certanly will try to make these meets in the future.

The other thread is gone. I posted that from the meet. Last time it took 3 months to posts pics so I thought why not post them from the meet itself.

Can't wait for the HD800 mini-meet. Almost wish I could get my hands on a PS-1000 by that point. Not really fair to buy from a place with a 30 day return just to have a great meet. I have no intention of buying any new headphones.

Just think about it this way, maybe just MAYBE the PS1000's are so awesome you'll want to get rid of the L3000. If you don't try it the vendors will never make any money
