How often do you use the the M9 or M6 since you have so many great headphones?

rarely, most of the time it's customs in my ears, if not it's the PS200 or SM2

Hah, I scratched off the logo and L/R signs off my AI-M6's. They look very classy now

Now to see if I can remove the pesky memory wire >_>

By the way, my AI-M9's never really sound right as compared to the M6's. Maybe their not burned in right? The M9's seem to have a flabbier bass, and this really weird closed in treble. Oh well, I use my M6's anyway.

Yes, my M6's are missing the logo as well and I think they look much better. The memory wire isn't too bad but it fails to reduce microphonics whatsoever, which I don't understand.

And I agree about the M9's not sounding as good despite having the same hardware, but I always attributed it to the fit (M6's sit in my ears much better). I guess the 2x price difference is justified.

My M6's are on their way...

Actually, with a bit of burn in and some better tips, the AI-M9 sound just as good as the M6. And yes, I took off the memory wire from the M6. It's just a cheap metal rod that is contoured around wire. A little snipping from some small scissors will take them of real easy. Unfortunately, now the wire hangs loose, but at least it's more comfortable for me. Phonak silicone guides anyone?

By the way, if I were to look for a high end IEM that has a similar sound signature to the M9's, what would it be? And please don't say the PFE or RE0, because those are cold and slightly bass-shy, the M9/M6's are not.

I hope that my M6s that are shipping to me sound as good as my M9s. I replaced the stock tips on the M9s with good biflange tips the first day because I couldn't get a decent seal. After a weekend of pink noise, they became my office phones.

Awesome bang for the buck, apparent build quality issues aside. I got a great pair of them!

AFAIK only three shops carry them - overstock.com, newegg.com, and the meelectronics' own site. Don't know about shipping, you may want to check that yourself.

took off the memory wire too, easy job, took a minute or so. Better fit and less hassle, but slightly harder to put in since there's nothing to grab on to now, and the body of the earphone being so small, it really does make it harder. But it's just THAT much better.

checked all three. all have quite limited shipping (either US-only or only to a handful of countries outside NA... no croatia, of course)

M6s are great out of the box, but that memory wire is going to be "86ed" as soon as I can get a few moments undisturbed over Labor Day weekend.

In that case I suggest asking someone from head-fi to buy a pair for you and ship overseas. Shipping shouldn't be more than $10-12 that way.

Meelectronics seems to suggest they ship to countries other than the US as they mention international in their help and say if your country is in the drop down list they'll ship to you, but when I click the drop down it only shows the US.
Overstock.com charge more for shipping than the headphones which kind of defeats the purpose!

I'd e-mail Meelec directly. Their customer service is some of the best I've encountered and they really are happy to answer any question, so just ask them if they'll ship to wherever you're at.
