FS: Headroom Ultra Desktop Amp / DAC

Headroom Desktop amp with optional Stepped Attenuator. This amp has the Max electronics module and Max DAC. Comes with the standard Astrodyne power supply. Build date 10-2005.

Retail price was $1599 plus optional stepped attenuator about $150.

For those that are worried about the usability of the stepped attenuator, the three position gain switch ensures that you can fine tune the volume level with any headphone.

This is for sale because I prefer the Grace 902m that is similar.

Cosmetically and mechanically excellent.

Price is $old including shipping in USA and paypal fee if applicable. I will ship international (Astrodyne supply works 100V-240V).

Did the Ultra even exist in 2005? Your amp is the older Headroom Desktop with Max module.

The ultra has ultra written on it. Thusly:

A head-fi mod sold the amp to me as a Headroom Ultra Desktop. I assumed it is the same amp. It has the max amp and max dac modules. So do tell, what is the difference beyond the "ultra" on the face plate?

I sold the amp to Canman. It is an Ultra. It was purchased by another member at CanJam '08 from HR. The paperwork and serial numbers all state that it has all Max modules.

So the 2005 HRDmaxed that you sold was retrofitted with the diamond buffer, which started going into the HRDmaxed in April 2006? The diamond buffer or the "'06 module" is what ultimately differentiates the Ultra.

At risk of turning this into a discussion: In my opinion it was already clear that this is not an Ultra and that the '05 max module is different from the '06 max module. Unfortunately, I had to learn upon posting of this thread that the amp I had is not what I thought I bought. This is very frustrating. It is not my intent to mislead anyone else. As you can see from the question in the thread I asked in Headroom's forum (and is linked twice in this thread) Tyll thought they were the same until a Head-Fier told him otherwise. If you want to discuss it further please send me a PM.

For what it's worth. I was the one that sold Canman the amp and told him it was the same as an Ultra. I did this because the person that sold it to me told me it was the same as an Ultra.
