Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro vs. DT 770 M

I'm going to buy some DT 770s for our studio, for recording drums (i.e. the drummer will be wearing them). I've heard that these are a good choice, and Beyerdynamic are very easy to find here in Germany (I'm a big fan of them too). Anyway, I wanted to know what the difference was between the Pro and the M versions. The M seems to be slightly more expensive. I would preferably like to get the 250 Ohm or the 600 Ohm version as it will be driven by a studio-grade headphone amp so they don't have to be easy to drive.

From what I've read, the M version is made for drummers like you Although they may not be so suitable for music. So perhaps the pro version might be a better all-rounder but the M version will fit your drumming needs perfectly.

DT770M is a studio tool made for drummers to wear. Its isolation is very good, amongst the best of normal headphones. Sound isnt as good as Pro version, (I own Pro one and my drummer friend owns M, but I havent compared them yet) but that isnt the point of the M model. Its a tool. Pro version has velvet pads and M model has leather/pleather pads.

There might be cheaper options too that provide equal isolation, (IEMs can offer even better, but are a hassle to insert in the ears properly) but M is a good choice for it.

Thanks of the fast replies guys! Is the sound quality of the M that different to the Pro, or can you still listen to music nicely with the M?

I think I might be going with the M, but I just want to see how different the sound is.

MaZa, I really don't like IEMs at all, I'd much rather stick with headphones.
