I guess the reason why so few members from Holland have responded to this thread is because we're in the middle of the holidays, so I guess nobody´s home?
Hmm not exactly. Team Dutch isn't as big as you'd think. There are lots of Dutch members here but a lot of them isn't that active at all.

It's not the language that concerns me (and it shouldn't concern anyone else) - mainland Europeans are on the whole good at English, virtually everyone knows basic English there.
The problems are the venue and location. Unfortunately squabbling is stopping the latter being sorted.

Well, being Dutch, I'm biased, but The Netherlands aren't that bad a place to host this little party in, nor is Germany. The upside in Germany is that there's more, er, to put it bluntly, people. More of a chance we can find a good host, more of a chance we can find a good location.

Smyth Research would probably be interested in being a vendor for a European meet, provided the date is ok. Munich would be ideal for us. Amsterdam would also be fine.

Fine with me - Munich or Amsterdam. Both nice cities....

Just talked with Tyll from Headroom about some other stuff and mentioned this in an email (that man is customer service) - he sounded pretty excited about a chance of going over the pond.

Also in other news John Willet and I are in progress for talks with Sennheiser German HQ - currently waiting for response after getting though to the right people - they told me a bit to my surprise that other head-fi'ers also had contacted them. I'll post when I hear more - could be days...

Having a head-fi meet in Sennheisers plant in Germany would be absolutely awesome! I hope it works out.

Yeah well I'd prefer neutral grounds so we are sure no vendors get their feelings hurt etc. but we'll see..

Oh that's right - that could be a problem.

Great! We need:
  • More than one guy that can handle local stuff
  • have the guts to contact local related vendors etc.
  • must be able to actually attend the event
  • and so forth
Once a few guys have teamed up we can call it offical that we go for that localtion and move forward with figureing out how many will attend and then size and location including vendor support etc..

I will be attending a local mini meet soon, we will discuss it and immediately post the agreed possibilities...

Misschien zijn de Nederlanders hier er gewoon niet zo happig op om hun nationaliteit kenbaar te maken. Die neiging heb ik (tot nu) ook nooit gehad.

I'm from the Netherlands and would definitely like a European event. I'm way to busy with college and work to take on any organizational tasks, though. A Hamburg meet would be most excellent, as it's pretty close to the Netherlands. Then again, a meet here in the Netherlands would be even better.
