Thats cool man I was seriously considering buying it but found a used tube amp with speaker/headphone for a good deal, though still more $ than than the MP-301.

I would think so, but I haven't actually tried it. I will do that soon.

"...It was especially great with the DT880’s. ..."

Hmm... Sound interesting

Maybe i will hook up my 880/600 with this amp

But, can you tell me where is the 'great' sector ? Bass? Soundstage? With 880/600 of course

Hello fatman,
This's the only tube amp that Musical Paradise made for headphone users. Personally, I don't use headphone very often, mainly with speakers. I do have a pair of AKG 240M and Sennheiser HD580.

just bought one off ebay. gonna use it bedside primarily for speakers. after listening to it for a bit i may look into triode strapping it to see what that does for the sound.

I just order one of these this week, I really dig the looks. I also bought extra tubes for tube rolling. I'll be using a pair of SR80s and a HD-DVD player as my source. Is this ideal? Well no, but I am looking for a "fun" rig, not a critical/reference rig. Hope to have it next week.
Basically as my first tube amp, is there anything else I can/should do? Other than relax and enjoy the tunes of course.

I just wanted to know if I needed to dance around it three times or do a chant!

First post here... Just had to pick up an MP-301 after reading Skylab's post. He is right about the 'boogie' factor on this amp. It works 'very' well on my Tekton 4.5 speakers in near field set up on either side of my iMac. I also drive my 701's periodically with it too, but the Fostex drivers play so well with the 301 that almost all free time is spent listening with this set up. Have not rolled any tubes as of yet but will once I become quite intimate with the stock sound. I expect a nice upgrade here...
Have also driven my Tetra 120U's to very high levels in second system. These are 89db sensitivity , I believe, and the amp had all kinds of gain available.
Garry, the amp designer, was kind enough to burn in for a day to test it out and then hand deliver it to a local (to him) coffee shop during a family road trip to Edmonton. Previous amp in computer set up was Sonic T-amp. I think it will not find it's way back onto my desktop now.

i just got mine in. i normally hang out on audiokarma and have a detailed post over there about its build and how it came packed. i found this thread while researching the amp. guess i'll be the first to post pics of his mp301 with covers removed tomorrow over on audiokarma.

i'll be tube rolling mine as well. its getting NOS ww2 era tungsol 6v6's from my stash and i have to see what i have 6ak5 wise. the chinese tubes are outa there!

Good call on ditching the stock tubes. I never even used them. Remarkably nice little amp for the money - congrats.
