REVIEW: Musical Paradise MP-301 Tube Headphone / Speaker amp - Page 10

So the question is, how would this compare to a dedicated head amp?

What is the circuit like for the headphone amp part vs the speaker output part.

Is this amp really providing a truely 6v6 head amp experience or is it off the driver tubes etc?

The neat thing abou this amp is it can be used for both  heads and speakers.

I am torn between a pure head amp like the new 6 watt LYR and the new v2 of the MP301.

I would like to see a schematic diagram but I  know and understand that this would be giving away the farm!!

It would be nice to know what the headphone circuit in the MP301 V1 and V2 are like in more technical detail...

All the best

Alex

Alex,

The diyaudio website was given to me to check out from another member. I'm told that the designer frequents it and those guys know a ton of stuff...here is the link...

Skylab,

Did you ever try running Orthos off the speaker jacks?

I did not.  I had sold mine by the time I got my Orthos.

Any news on the Mp-301 MkII ?  I checked the website and still list the amp as not available.

Thanks!

I have just put in my order for the MP-301 MKII. I wanted to place an order for some extra tubes to play with, but being a total noob with tube amps, I have a question.

I have read that a great pair to roll from the stocks with the MP-301 are a matched pair of Tung-Sol 6V6GT, but.... the replacement guide for tubes for the MP-301 mkII =

6J8P 6SJ7, 5693, 6AC7, 6SK7, 6SD7, 6J4P, 6*4, 6*8
6L6 6P3P, 5881, EL34

Can someone please help me understand if the Tung-Sol are compatible, and how I would know that ? The amp takes two different types of tubes, so should I roll both pairs at the same time with upgraded tubes ?

Thanks for any assitance for me to understand.

The MP301 Mk II does not use the 6V6, so no, you cannot use those.

Thanks for the clarification ? Would I be better off to replace the two sets, or is there one group that would be more beneficial over the other ?
