Woo's new Electrostatic amp - Page 3

It's really nice to see the number of options for electrostatic headphones growing!

I'd like to see some internal pics of the new Woo.

yeah that will have to be that high, it goes without saying.
But then somebody said "lots of gain" when looking at a new amp, doesn't that imply "more gain than usual"?

Kinda strikes me as an all tube Blue Hawaii but what's in a name really? I love the looks of it and I've always been pleasantly surprised by the cost/looks ratio of Jack's products. Please let it be true again.
I don't think that Jack would commit to it, but if there's a working prototype, I'm sure it will at least be on static display at Can Jam.

Wow that looks nice. The horizontal tubes on the power supply looks neat!

Yeah, actually the classic Western Electric theater amps as well as most studio gear had all the tubes mounted horizontally (the studio stuff had it all mounted out of the back for easy access when rack mounted).
That clear shield reminds me of the Pope-mobile's bullet proof glass!
Just great industrial design work.

Well it does have more gain then the GES which it is based on.

It's a GES on steroids so it has nothing in common with the BH. I do hope that it is competitively prices since the market needs a good 3-4k$ amp.

I think it looks quite sweet!
Its great to have more amplifier options for the higher end electrostatic headphones.

Can't wait for reviews of this one against ex. the KGBH SE driving the mighty SR-007.

Like an SRM-T2 successor?
That would be really nice, even if I am sure it would be pricey.

And perhaps even an Omega 3.

Jack emailed me back saying they will try to complete it for CanJam but he's not certain at this point.

Looking forward to it...

Cheers,

I think it looks great. The only thing I don't like is the Plexiglas shield in front of the EL34's. Also, why are there 2 power switches?

From the website: "From a cold start, the dual power switch protects the tubes from a high current surge. Turning on just one of the power switches provides low voltage to the heaters while the unit remains in stand-by mode. Turning on both power switches allows the unit to function properly."
