can the pico dac/amp combo act as a stand alone dac?

Hi all,

I know the pico dac/amp can act as a stand alone amp but can it act as a stand alone dac with proper line-out?

Yes. Use low gain.

yes it can 'act' as one, but it will never be one as it doesnt have a line-out, get the dac only version for this. better yet, get the D10, which uses the same dac chip, has a true line-out and has more flexibility than pico with coax and optical inputs. the pico sounds fantastic no doubt though

yeah, but we don't know about SQ between the two DACs. Or should I say we do know which one a potential listener would prefer from a sound quality standpoint.

Using the same DAC chip doesn't necessarily mean they sound the same. Implementation plays a big factor as well as other cirtuitry used.

^^ agreed, but i've heard both and prefer the D10 even via USB, via optical it takes another step towards the ultimate goal IMO; nirvana on the move
