Its Null_pointer, he probably brought a rubber sword to a gun fight, as usual.

Although this might be an old topic, I want honest opinions on the differences experienced by switching interconnects. (Between the source and the headphone amp)… What kind of changes can be expected?
This is a rather hard question to answer.

In my experience (which is what you asked for) a great number of the interconnects I have auditioned have sounded the same, some have sounded worst, and some have sounded better.
The better ones have increased the enjoyment of my system, more listening and longer listening sessions. With the better cables everything from the highs to the lows have been better, more transparent.
I can not explain what kind of changes you will hear, as your equipment is different, and so is what and the way you hear.
If you want to know what differences there are in cables, try several to numerous sets, and hear for yourself what and if there is a difference

It depends on the music you listen to as well. My Neotech interconnects have a little more bass over Cryoset but Enya's vocal is a bit harsher through them. However I haven't noticed a difference in Bryan Adam's vocal.

Depends on the system and what cable you're comparing with. I can hear a difference between a silver and a crappy stock cable, but there's hardly any difference between my 2 lods (one is cryo and one is copper & silver plated)

This thread may also be good reading. Personally, I can hear the difference between the cables I have with the electrostatic rig I'm using, but the difference between, say, a $50 cable and a $100 one, unless they change the tone, would probably be un-noticeable, or so little it doesn't matter. Regardless, a change in DAC or CD player would have a more significant effect. If you're spending over a thousand dollars on a system, especially if, like me, you get electrostats (Stax usually) then good, no BS, but high quality interconnects are worth considering IMO. However, any interconnect that doesn't deliver more detail (ie: distorts the signal less), without colouring the sound in any way, isn't worth bothering with.

My opinion is that you should only trust your own ears!
You may take other peoples opinion as basic guidelines, but we are all different and hence your own opinion is the one to care about.

My opinion is that you should trust your ears. They all work the same. But never your brain. Those are most deffenatly don't work the same. Sometimes don't work at all or work to much and get overloaded

The Kimber has arrived!

The Kimber has arrived! I did a brief listen, no scrutiny, no A-B-X testing, just a brief rendezvous!

No night and day difference here, but a subtle improvement across the spectrum. Better bass, slightly more natural treble extension, a smidgeon more transparency…

The difference is a bit more noticeable in busy orchestral sections, where the Kimber produces a bigger headstage with slightly better separation of instruments…

That’s about it… could be placebo, but still, it seems a little cleaner overall…. Most definitely zero harm done. Have to do critical listening to confirm this.

Sorry, which Kimber? Copper or silver?

Thanks for your impressions.

Pay close attention to the Mids's, and let us know what you hear

Enjoy

My observations with the GQ-Mini (I have the mini-mini) exactly... it's subtle, but no harm in trying for ourselves.

I've been subjectively comparing my existing $1k interconnect with a new $2k interconnect. I intend to do a fairly in-depth post in a week or so - to give a better idea of what differences there may be and what goes on in the crazed mind of a believer. Should have done it by now, but life keeps getting in the way! And I'm about to go on holiday for a few days.

I'm not going to steal the thunder of the review, but I will say that it did not go at all to plan - and I did buy the $2k cable.

In the meantime, I do agree with a number of other posts here that you should keep an open mind and, above all, to try before you buy.
