I think it's a bit off when one MOT (scoot) is calling another MOTs (Justin) gear poor value when...

a, Justin cannot really come here and defend himself.
b, Scooter sells his own DIY cables and LODs for probably a bigger markup than Justin.

A little disingenuous don't you think?

Personally I feel he should get his tag and STFU about stuff he apparently knows little, if anything about.

I think banned suits him better than an MOT.

On topic, from the pictures posted I personally would find it difficult to gain any substantial knowledge of what is going on inside those amps, circuit wise. The layout seems clean and pretty straightforward, that's about all I'd feel comfortable saying.

i try to figure out how is the sound of this amp.
oh..this is difficult it has no sound signature at all.I know this is crazy.I can say straight away this is Jadis,Trafomatic or Pass Labs they all have a "house" sound.When i put my Grados on with Silvercore there is a huge relaxed very liquid sound without a hint of any sound signature.Huge orchestras are there,you can pick every musician out of it and see them playing.The sound is so relaxed like huge ocean waves floating.
Violins....Cello, yes they have beautiful sound, its all there .Has it a sound signature from a triode amp? no it has not.Can i say its ultra clean without being sterile maybe yes.Ultra clean ,relaxed, huge size of instruments with body and resonance of them own...but no sound signature from this amp.I am a tube freak i know tubes alot they all have a signature Mullard Telefunken etc.When you buy this amp it has Chinese tubes on it,i tried old Rca 812A today but i didnt hear any difference between the tubes! maybe i am crazy.Normally there are differences between tubes.I have changed resistors from other amps to find out wich resistor is best for certain tube.No doubt, shinko tantalum is best for 845 tube ,they all have a sound signature but i cant find it in this particular amp.This is crazy i know.

Attenuator:
Only 12 steps on the volume control? Surely not?

Vacuum tube:
The characteristics given in the datasheet indicate that the 812A is not an ideal choice for this application. Hence it seems very possible that it was chosen primarily for it’s visual impact. (Datasheet here: http://www.mif.pg.gda.pl/homepages/f...049/8/812A.pdf )

Power supply:
Also, there appears to be cheap switch-mode power supply printed circuit boards used in the power supply (presumably for the directly heated cathodes), according to the internal photograph (click top left here: SILVERCORE-silvercore preamp 812A )

Subjective:
I quite like the open-deck appearance, but the price does seem very steep.

It is a switching power supply.Why not conventional?

I have a SP SDS-XLR and 24 steps sometimes aren't quite enough

primarily i am interested to understand the sound from an amp secondarily technical details.

...i was listening last night to Dead Can Dance into the labyrinth.Lisa Gerrards voice...
oh...that was scary real.. i was floored ,did i hit the source? i think yes.Does this amp witch has no sound signature reflect the source? i think yes, thats something.Why am i listening many hours without a break, i did it never before is it because i have a new amp? the answer is no.Many tubeamps collapse with huge orchestral passages and many solid state become nervous.Do you know what authority means over music it means that it can not collapse thats the feeling with this amp.Does this amp have speed is it slow or fast.Its rather floating, does floating have speed ? i dont know.
A floating sound with a pinpoint soundstage and you see every musician, thats something.I have Bo Hansson on vinyl and cd i have heard it almost 30 years,did i ever heard it this natural? never before.Why is the music so beautiful with this particular amp? is it romantic? that would be a sound signature, no its not romantic but the music is beautiful

a few comments not from me on the 811,812 family tubes:

When Mark Conese and I compared the sound of David Berning's new ZOTL single ended circuit 811 amplifier to the 300B version we thought that there something wrong with the 300B amplifier and it had brand new Western Electric tubes. Marco the pianist completely agreed with us. The 300B amplifier sounded warm and fuzzy compared to the 811. The 811 was much closer to the sound of the Steinway, and the 300B was not!
