What you're referring to there, in the OF, the 0db is for the amount of pre-gain dialed in. The 0db I mentioned is the volume setting in the Rockbox alternative firmware....equivalent to just shy of maximum output if you were still using the OF. That's where I set it if I am running the player into one of my amps.

Thanks Achmedisdead, I'm using the HO out to my earphones ( not amping though I have a E7) and would like to know whether my settings will have any impact to SQ. I'll rockbox sometime later down the road and if you think that there is a better setting, please do kindly let me know. Many thanks

It should work pretty well with most in-ears without needing an amp at all, maybe even your M50's. It runs my ATH-WS55's just fine with no amp. Enjoy it for a while, and later on you can tinker with Rockbox....but there;ll be plenty of reading to do when that time comes.

Ok thanks, but does my current pre-gain @ 0db setting have an impact to the SQ?
I'm basically computer challenged and always goes default using Windows WMA lossless ,ALAC,AAC and MP3. The sad thing is my laptop hard drive died 2 weeks back with no backup done and have to redo everything from scratch. Currently, reading on setting up a FLAC library
and conversion to ALAC/MP3 with my new laptop and will not be reading into rockboxing for the time being. Thanks.

Ok Achmedisdead , thanks.

I've read at various places that setting the rockboxed sansa clip to +0 will essentially turn the HO into a line out. Does this apply even when I'm using replay gain which lowers the volume on my tracks?

sorry for bumping this again, but shouldn't the player be sending a weaker signal if replay gain is on?
