Ultimate Ears 700 - Page 4

Gizmodo also posted their review; it is pretty positive as well

Gizmodo - Logitech Ultimate Ears 700 Lightning Review: $230 Earbuds Justified - ultimate ears 700
post #47 of 110
Wait a second, the Gizmodo reviewer says the 700s give the Shure SE310s a run for their money? Damning with faint praise, at least from what I have read about the 310s. The reviewer also calls the UE Ears 700 the company's "flagship" pair of phones. Huh? At $230?

Slightly better than the q-Jays and $50 more doesn't sound that hot. I am more interested in the Jays triple driver. Maybe I'll try and sign up for a review pair of those.

The 700's are as much from Logitech now so it seems they will be available in Staples, PC Richard, Radio Shack etc. according to the Logitech site. There should be some nice discounts on these in the future similar to when the SF 3's were $29/$39 at Radio Shack!

Hopefully these benefit from tip change like the SF 5. The silicone tips seem to have smaller openings. None of the reviews mention a good soundstage. Gizmodo saying they are more 3D than SE310 is not saying much at all for soundstage. Even the SE420 lacks depth. Only the SE530 being has quality depth to the stage.

Maybe I'd try them in the future if they are $139 or $149 on sale at Staples or the Shack. Probably will just skip these though.

I love it when people don't get their facts straight! So UE's 'flagship' model is now the 700?? As for giving the SE310 a 'run' for its money, er... what?!! I preferred my Denon C700's to the SE310. So that comment isn't positive at all, and where did the price of $300 for the SE310 come from? Even the SE420 didn't cost that much

Yeah, Gizmodo has zero cred as a place to review phones. Those are really gaping mistakes in a review in my opinion. Maybe the 700s are excellent, but the review makes you think otherwise.

not exactly a glowing review, so they beat the se310 fine but not think to compare them to anything else? but i guess their reviews arent really aimed at people like us

I hope these aren't as good as the IE7s I just got! lol I don't want to regret my purchase. Anyway I'm not sure that I like the sound of 2 armatures after my experience with the UE Super .fi 5 Pros.

Anyone received these yet? How are they?

Yes, please keep us all updated!

Right now it doesn't look like these are going to be very popular.

Well that's a shame, as you need to look at the whole package and not just one component. You would not say you would never drive another V6 engine car now would you? Variety is the spice of life

Look at the picture below. What were they thinking? How small are the openings on the UE700 tips compared to the tips on the SF4? Wider ones give a larger overall stage. First the SF5 is given tips that make them sound boring and dull now the UE700 are given tips that no doubt hurt soundstage.

I said it before that UE has to know better. That they put those tips on the SF5 to make them sound worse than the 5 Pro when they can sound better than the Pro's. Maybe they put tips on the UE700 so they don't sound near as close to the Triples as they can.

Someone needs to test this out when they get them.
