Sweet! Would no doubt spank a DA100 at the same price as buying a DA100 new... buying used rocks... I am listening to my RS1s right now using a rig right now that including interconnect cables would cost over US$8K to buy new but cost me less than CA$5k... only way to fly IMO. Trouble is it's real tough to convince myself to go to bed... juuuuuust .....one.........moreeeeeee........alllllllllbum.. .......

I know you want integrated USB, but what I've had success with is a Northstar M192 MKI fed by a Trends UD10 USB-SPDIF converter. I haven't compared it directly to anything, but my gut instinct is that it's exactly what you're looking for- neutral, not tipped up or painful. I've seen used M192 MKI's go for $850, they might drop even more. Finding them is sometimes difficult, though. The Trends goes for ~$100 and would bring the total just under your budget.

That said, the Stello linked above is really tempting. Good luck in your search.

i've got the Grado MS-2s.  still leaning towards an Audiolab MDAC as I'll need a pre-amp for my Dynaudio DBM50 monitors too.  lower impendance Grados shouldn't be too tough for the MDAC to drive, right?
