Long time no post, so first of all, hi...
Now, let's get to the point
I am currently interested in buying a cheap desktop amp, as an alternative to my pa2v2, which I really like. I am considering this particular model for quite a few reasons:
-Will look great on my desk;
-Sturdy;
-Inexpensive;
-I don't want to be involved with tube rolling, so solid state is the only way to go;
I would most likely use it with multiple sources (a 15 years old panasonic PCDP SL-S120, an integrated laptop sound card, a xbox 360) and with multiple phones (mostly HD555, K26P, KSC75).
I read quite a few head-fi posts about othen Qinpu products. And I also read 2 different reviews:
I read this one: Qinpu Q-6 Speakers & Q-1 Amplifier Review
I personally never cared for specs, and the reviewer recommends the higher end Q2 based on higher specifications alone, and which he never listened to, which doesn't make much sense to me at all.
I also read this one from fellow head-fier Stevesebastianb: VR2XMQ - Steve's Blog HF through SHF: Indeed 6N11 Tube Class A Headphone Amplifier Vs. Qinpu Q1 + Indeed L-top 6N3 Buffer Amplifier.
From the very detailed review, I can understand the amp is on the bright side of things, and isn't as good as the Indeed 6N11, but I still can't make my idea on the Q1. And by the way, thanks, and great job on the review!
So the question is: "Is the Q1 better at driving headphones than a portable amp that costs roughly the same?"
That, I don't know. And at quite a few pounds heavier, I would like it to sound better.
I'd like to hear from you guys.
As usual, you are the experts
Thanks in advance!
