Paypal - Scam?

I've been receiving emails about my paypal account being attempted to be accessed from foreign IPs, and was wondering if other people have received similar emails in the past since it said that I had to verify my account or it'll be suspended.......

It looks a bit sus since the email was received at another email address of mine rather than the main paypal address....

Definitely a fake.

These scammers are getting trickier ad trickier. A few months ago, my dad was emailed a very convincing UPS document saying how I owed them an exorbant amount of money for screwing up an order or whatnot.

Fortunately, I was at home during that time to pointout that the email addresses (sent and return) were both quite bogus, and my dad promptly deleted it.

Thought so, since I never registered my other email with paypal.

This kind of things makes me uber-paranoid when dealing online.

Why would paypal send it to another email? I smell phish....

Maybe contact paypal and report it?

Always go to the PayPal site and check in to see if a notice is real. Don't click on the link in an email, type the URL into your browser. If anything is the matter, you'll be able to find the message in your console.

If it's not there, the message is bogus. Same goes for eBay.

Provided you havnt been browsing behind a proxy, I am guessing it's a fake.

Certainly smells fake.
Especially since its send to another email address than the one you have registered at PayPal.

Sorry to bump up this old thread. Just want to warn you all that this problem still going out there. beware
Today one of these mails landed my inbox. (More specifically inside my spam folder) I actually read pretty much about them however I haven’t really received any of them myself until now.
I brought a snapshot of it. To help people it should show mostly how they look like.

As it clearly says, you need to update your information if you don’t want your account gets suspended and you usually only have same day to react. Of cause DO NOT listen to such a bad joke.
What I can say about this, the links in the mail seem goes to a malicious address and not to PayPal.
Most important DO NOT click on them. Of cause I didn’t since I already was warned about this it. Both the headline and sender address also look suspicious too so I was fully sure this was a scam. I then deleted it right away I took this shoot and I suggest all to do the same.

It’s not only PayPal. Facebook and MySpace are very common words used for these tricks. Beware!

First, always mouse over links and you'll see the real address in the bottom left of your browser (at least in firefox).

Second, common sense is usually a good thing.

Not necessarily, but could just send you to a dummy page and get you to "log in", gaining full access to your account.

I got one last month saying my account was suspended because of numerous attempts to access it. They were wanting me to supply account information so they could open it back. Closed the email and went directly to my Paypal account. Everthing was fine. I did forward the email to Paypal.

Likely what I did with IE. Works same way.

I got one of those repeatedly. However the last one was a bit more serious. It asked for PayPaI account (yeah written like that ) password, credit card info, etc...

I forwarded it to spoof at paypal dot com. (think the address was like that).
