I promised I will keep you updated, so here it is.
I've decided to purchase the headphones

It does bother me a bit that they put some pressure on my ears, but the overall comfort is better than average, and that again there's the sound
Nothing I know of in the price range that sounds this good.

Now just to get the y1 working to replace the Xonar D2, and than perhaps try the Creek that's siting in the closet to see if its better than the Kenwood.

So did you end up selling all the other cans you had? Why keeping only the AD900 if you have an amp?
I've ordered the AD900, i hope it will be as good as you say

Anyone who can compare the sound leakage of these phones with the hd555? Or anything that gives an idea of the sound leakage.

At the moment the AD900's are my only headphones. And the only amp I have is the Creek OBH11, but it adds nothing to the AD900's since they are so easy to drive.

They leak sound in almost as much as when you don't wear any headphones at all. They also leak music out quite a bit. If sound leakage is a problem, the ad900 is not for you. You might want to consider a closed headphone.

Yeah but i mean if you had the K1000 and the HE60 why did you do such a "downgrade"? Is it because the AD900 is enough for your needs ? Or maybe because it's so close to higher end cans?

As I've mention in the OP, I just couldn't have so much money in headphones. Plus, at the moment I only listen to headphones for an hour or two a week, so the AD900's are enough for me.

I'm surprised somebody hasnt bought this up:
KT88, try the "phat pad mod" on your AD900s.

Apparently it helps a lot for the comfort problems you seem to have.

Some people say it doesn't effect the SQ, some say it does. So you gotta see for yourself I guess.

Clarity, clarity and some more clarity..I took a while for the qualities of the AT's to grow on me, but when they did it was kind of an awakening.

Usually the phones I associate with have a prominence in the presence area and as a result are thicker with a loss of detail in the midrange. The AT's are clear, quick with a very fast transient character. The four I own have really grown on me and are permanent residents.

The Bass of the AT's, across the board is different from most phones. On first hearing you think UGH! Bass Light! Not actually...the Lows are limber and tuneful with a taught character. A nice bonus is they maintain a good balance at lower volumes.

For comfort of your phones...toe out the front of the phone away from the face. Pulled out slightly they image better and are more comfortable.

I just ordered the Yamamoto HA-02 specifically for the AT's and other low impedance phones in the collection.

Interesting mod, ExtraNice! And if it doesn't help, at least it doesn't do any damage...

ExtraNice, thanks, I've tried something similar but didn't like the result. Plus, I got used to the comfort so no problem.

Yeah.

I'm been planning to try it out for a while now, but I'm too lazy to go down to the hardware store.

@KT: Oh ok. Yeah, you do kinda get used to the protruding drivers. Took me a while to find the right spot too.

Hmmmm... there's a dive shop close to my home. Maybe I'll go and visit it today.

Happy Queen's Day, by the way!

I have the HD650, which are about as open as they get. The AD900 leak more than the HD650. AD900 is by far the most airy and leaky headphone I've owned.

Example, even at normal listening volume, leaks so much that people who have never seen open air headphones before won't believe that it's normal listening volume, they will keep saying how are you not deaf, they are too loud. Then they put em on their heads and realize how wrong they are.

Great, that's exactly what i'm looking for
Concerning bass most people seem to state they are bass light but have also a very nice impact, is it your opinion as well?
