Fiio E5 battery life/power problem/question

ok ive been using my e5 for a month now and still have the same results as the day i took it out of the package ... i get 5 maybe 6 hours out of a full charge with my mp3 player cowon d2 at 45/50 volume (any more and theres distortion) and the e5 at max volume .....

it just seems to me that 5 hours is pitiful and the difference in volume is next to nothing ... just a tiny tiny boost

i'm using atrio's so i wanted an amp to make up for the 32 ohms .. now i'm thinking either my e5 is Dud or i should go buy a minibox-f to listen to music at work, Any ideas?

Something must be wrong in your rig. I can barely withstand E5 full volume + Atrio + >50% volume on my Sansa Fuze, and Fuze has less powerful output than D2. In fact, I don't even need to use amp. My Fuze can easily drive Atrio to deafening volume.

ya sounds to me like i got a bad e5.. it was from amazon.com and shipped from head-direct maybe i'll buy another one since there cheap instead of going to a more expensive amp

ClieOS whats your e5's battery life at full volume? i'm guessing alot more than 5 hours

ive got the d2 with the e5 volume wise its on 24 and its plenty loud enough with my hfi780s(have some very quiet tracks that may need up to 35) but always have the e5 on full volume and it lasts for ages

I never use it on full volume before, but neither does it last less than 10 hrs in between recharging.

are there any other US based sites that sell the e5 for a good price i'm a little afraid to buy from head-direct again seeing as the one i have now is from them and it could be a bad batch they still havent used up yet

ok so i bought another e5 from head-direct and i remember my first one being dated March of 08 and this new one was made in january of 09... so little to no chance of having the exact same defect ... so ive used/charged it 4 times since ive gotten it .. used 3 different sources .. D2/SansaView/PC.. All with the same difference in volume as the previous one(very little change in volume)but the new one lasts roughtly 8 hours compared the the 6 i get with the older used one which is still Nowhere near the 20 hour expected battery

so my sansa view is rated at 30-32mw per channel and cowon d2 is 37mw per channel .. pc i dont know but it sounds roughly the same as both of my mp3 players and this amp is supposed to be 150mw roughly 5x the volume which Should be able to blow my ear drums into oblivion with IEM's but i get only a small difference has anyone else bought a E5 from head-direct anytime recently and gotten a good product or am i expecting too much?

i bought one from head-direct last month and have had no issues with it i usually get 13+hours of battery life and will amplify my blackberry (that i could barely hear at 100% volume) and netbook to uncomfortable levels. realy shocked to see your bad luck after hearing my e5. have you tried a new mini to mini cable.

Wow.... My E5 lastest as long as my A818 charge.... about 24+ hr's. This was in conjuction with using my D1001's. I must of got myself a good one

I heard the E5 comes with a lith-ion battery. You might want to calibrate the battery every so often to maintain good battery life/performance.

Completely drain out the battery to the point where the device doesn't even power on, let it sit for some time, and fully charge the battery to 100% and keep it charged while in use. You should see how noticable increase in battery, whether its 30 minutes or hours (depending on your battery).

Hope that helps.

ive completely drained and charged them multiple times and it doesnt change the life of the battery nor the output of the device

I use my e5 with my Sansa Fuze and get about 15-20 hours out of the e5. I use an LOD too for my output with the Fuze, and use the e5 as the volume control, maybe try an LOD (You can make one for your Sansa View (check out the sansa fuze thread in the DIY section) The sansa Fuze LOD will work with the View also, I tried it with the View after I made one for my Fuze and it worked fine with the View.
