Re: Re: Re: Re: What do you guys think about XP-33?
Thanks for the heads-up. My XP-55 is still going strong, and I just recently received a Panasonic SL-S290 that I like alot, so I'm going to let this one pass. Go for it Jonny Quest, at this point it probably won't cost too much, and it will be the biggest bargain in PCDP's you can find.
Today I also received an AKG K240S, so naturally, I whipped out all the old PCDP's (never know when a headphone matches better with one PCDP over another). Fresh comparison between the Aiwa XP-55, XP-R220, Panasonic SL-S290, S330, and Sony D-5, D-11. D-5 and D-11 were left in the dust, XP-R220 just doesn't have the juice for the K240S. The S330 is too bassy, combined with the 240, which is bassy enough, not a good combo. That leaves the XP-55 and SL-S290. The XP-55 impresses me again, nice clean, detailed sound. Powers the 240S good, but not with "authority", like it does the Sennheiser HD-25. The SL-S290, while not as finely detailed as the XP-55, paired with the 240S is Webster's definition of "authority". So, since I listen mainly to hard rock/metal, the 240S and the Panasonic SL-S290 reign supreme. When I'm in the mood for something mellower, like Dave Matthews for instance, the XP-55 is the way to go.
