desktop portable question

does the dac in the portable desktop support 24/192 or is it the same as the portable micro 24/96?

also would be interested in comments pertaining to upsampling with itunes.
specifically do you think, or hear, there is an advantage to playing 16/44.1
music out the optical port set to say 24/96 or whatever?

i know there are umpteen threads about toslink vs. usb but i havent seen
much there about the sampling rate differences between the two, just jitter
and blah blah.

i found it interesting that in tyll's foto of his desktop setup with the new ultra
desktop stack it shows he is using usb 16/44.1 . this has me wondering the
benefits of up-sampling.

thanx.

Hello,

Linked below [in .pdf format] is the actual HeadRoom product manual for the 2009 Portable Desktop Amp/DAC; it should help to answer lots of myriad inquiries but please do let me know if ANY further questions!

cool

thanks, yes it answered the question. it does in fact support 24/192 cool.
since my original question i have realized it is my macbook which is limiting
me to 24/96 as thats the fastest it outputs via s/pdif.

and i have since noticed the ultra desktop listed on your site for a very tempting price. i keep checking back to see if it was a typo

i think i will keep the micro portable and go with an ultra desktop instead
of selling the micro portable for the desktop portable.

thanks
