Desktop ultra dac rates

For Tyll and the Headroom guys,
I´d like to download some music from Linn Records. They can provide studio master quality at 24 bit, 88,2 kHz (rate and depht).
The question is if the ultra dac will be able to decode this music on the Toshlink optical connection??? I am not sure about the 88,2 khs

Thanks a lot

Boy, I don't know. I do know that the DAC is supposed to lock to any S/PDIF compliant signal, but not sure about 88.2kHz?

Congrat for your +1000 posts man!

So.... what´s your experience with this non common rate 88,2 KHz? Have you got an ultra DAC from HeadRoom by chance????

No, I am one of perspective buyer of this.
I am just asking same question as you did.

Does anyone have an 88.2 kbs file you can email me?

I sent one.... Hopefully it helps.

Oh, also.... I wish Ultra DAC has crossfeed option for non-headroom amp users....

KiloHertz?
Because 88.2kbps will sound like a phone call.

Well I do not see why it would not. Both my portable desktop and my old overture will lock onto any rate from my upsampler between 44.1Khz and 96Khz on the fly. They will also lock on at 176.4Khz and 192Khz as long as the DAC is turned on after the upsampler has been changed to the new frequency. Feel free to send me an ultraDAC and I will be glad to check it out for you.

BTW is this an upsampling DAC like the ultra micro?

No, the ESS DAC is something quite different. Post-modern, really.
A numerical philosophy inscribed in silicon.

It upsamples in one step to a 40Mhz PWM (delta sigma) scheme through
some crazy DSP infinately recursive filter. Or some such insane thing.

In the end, you feed it exquisite bits and it does them right.

So.... it has no problem?

Ah, very interesting. I remember the initial stereophile pre-review of the ESS sabre DAC but then kind of lost track of it. I missed that in the write-up but I see it there now. You may want to put something like "ESS9008 Sabre digital-to-analog converter" for the reading impaired like myself.

Anyway, that certainly looks good to me. Let me check my wallet and get back to you.
