Reiz Audio = Audio-Gd

I already did.

In fact, given Kingwa's answer:
Reiz Audio = Audio-Gd
Reiz = translitteration of the Chinese name of the company
Audio-Gd = English name of the company

In addition, Reiz Audio has a Taiwanese distributor, of the same name.
It is the websites of that distributor I had found.

Thanks for the impressions, Peete. I'm glad to see you're enjoying it. This baby looks amazing.

I called up and complained to DHL about their lousy service and now my Ref 1 has cleared customs. I wish I'd done that 3 days ago now.

That is really lousy service from DHL, Curra.
Maybe it was because of the FedEx Cargo plane crash earlier this week and things were held up at Tokyo Airprt.
Well whatever, I hope you get it soon..

It's coming tomorrow. It was stuck at Osaka, before the Tokyo crash. Google "DHL clearance delay" -- it's a known issue with them being hopeless. It's more likely to be a result of them screening everything from China for drugs and fake Italian handbags though. DHL's web site says that they have an advanced clearance service, which allows goods to be cleared before they arrive. I bet they charge for it too, making the delay a rort. I'm sure I'll have to pay some kind of extortionate clearance fee when it arrives too. If they try and charge a clearance fee, I shall give them an earful. Now...how do you say "couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery" in Japanese....?

Glad to know its reaching tomorrow, yeah i did that Google when my Compass was shipped - some horror stories I must say.. talking about clearance fees, I am glad I am currently stationed at a place that is duty free for personal items up to 50Kg and USD1500 (unless its from Russia !!), although DHL did mess up my last consignment from Kingwa as two packages left the same day/time, but they arrived a day apart..
Well about the Japanese translation, I think you dont need to say anything, it will be written all over your face !! if my Ref1 was delayed by 3 days it would have said worse things..

Hey Peete, should you have the time to get out a measuring tape, could you tell me what the dimensions of the Reference One are? I can't find this info anywhere on the Audio-gd site and since you mention that it's really big I'm starting to worry I might have to build a new equipment rack before it gets here.
Just received the (unsollicited) answer from Kingwa:

Quote:
The RE1 size:
480(W)X 90(H)X 400(L).
The face wide is 480, but the box wide is 430.
So, it's basically at the maximum size that a normal rack will take. I hope mine can bear the weight, I'll be sure to put it on the bottom shelf just to be safe.

It's big Dro but not outside the standard rack mount gear sizing. It's heavy but a good heavy IMO

BTW I'm currently just giving the RE1 hours without listening today. I've concentrated more on the C2C today. It's a darn good amp. I need to pick Curra's brain a little about it later on this evening if he's online

Hang in there Curra you'll soon have a big heavy object to wrangle out it's carton and packaging !!!

Oh yeah...I hadn't thought one bit about the rack until I slid the RE1 into it's allotted shelf .....then it was a Doh slap head moment. I'm clearing off the second Lovan and reorganizing the system so the RE1 will have the top shelf on the second rack alleviating the problem but now I need to get a rack for the Turn table ...

Seems like perpetual burn in and upgrade is afoot this year just like '08. Not that I'm complaining

It arrived!

I only got charged $11 too! Sagawa Transport, who are good, delivered it. Most couriered stuff seems to be delivered by them here. The guy wisely came up to my door to check I was home first before hauling the 20Kg box up to the 5th floor. Customs had obviously opened it, and made a mess of re-packing, but everything was in good condition.

The pictures don't express what a beast the Ref 1 is. I didn't realise when I first saw it online that it has 3 transformers in it, one for each module. It's literally 2 whole DACs and a signal processor all crammed inside a box.

My C2C I splurged with an ordered the OFC RCAs and a Goldpoint attenuator for. The Goldpoint people were awesome about it, even after eBay screwed up the shipping address for Audio-gd and I had to confirm it via email.

Anyway, I have to run out work, but I quickly snapped some pics before my battery went flat.
