Another thing I discovered that if I don't wedge the customs. There is much more soundstage that way.
Wedge? As in full body as opposed to canal-only?

Well. It's possible to force them in more after It's in position (tight fit). The other I did is inserting gently and let it slap into place.

Interesting...I'm still wondering if ACS will do canal-only if I ask. I like them to sit as flush as possible so I can use them laying in bed.

I believe you will have a removing string like the UM56.

Custom tip should extend the IEM out by a amount depending on your ears.
When are you expected to get either of the tips?
No clue; ACS didn't even receive my molds yet (tracker says they only just arrived in England at the port) and Westone I don't know the turnaround time; audiologist has to call me when she receives them so I can go in for fitting.

And yeah I expect that; the UM56 are canal-only and they have the little grabby-sticks (technical term, right?).

will canal only affect the isolation?
My understanding is that it isn't a significant difference in isolation because the canal-only type already provides such a great seal.

best read this opinion on the phonak thread.

might make you think differently for canal only customs.

I didn't read anything later in the thread actually commenting if full body is better than canal-only, only that the canal-onlies bloated bass. Is there anything prior talking about that? For all I can tell, full-body is even worse with that material/tip-maker.

ok. bit the bullet and made an appointment with the audiologist. thanks for the chatter people as it really helped me decide if customs are for me. now to go talk to my wallet and say sor... ah, never mind.

I can't really tell from the over-exposed pics. But soft custom tips for PFE shouldn't be fitted with the IE8 unless it has a widest sound tunnel bore. You can go look at Future sonics' custom and look at the bore is huge. Dynamic needs it. Or else the sound is going to be messed up(muffled, recessed, Bad SQ). On the other hand. BA drivers IEM doesn't require as much bore width. btw, that guy has some very straight&long canals I've ever seen.

imo, canal only or around body custom tips are going to stick out just as much and performance just as same in sonic performance. just looks.

Ah. Thanks for the support. I am not good at writting but I would like to let everyone know how these changes the sound, solving question members might have. Great to hear from you, are you still considering doing tips with ACS?

I would post up pictures wearing them after I recieve my "over-the-ear" replacement pair. but the look is similar to what Spudharris posted.

I was thinking the exact same thing :|

when i send my letter i will have to make sure to tell ACS to make the bore tunnel size the widest they can possibly make it. i am still a bit worried about how they might affect a dynamically driven IEM tho...
