smallest portable amp that would satisfy a basshead?

Hi all,

I'm trying to find the smallest portable amp that also provides powerful bass for a basshead? Any suggestions? Would like to keep it $200 or less but would be willing to go higher if need be.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I would imagine an iBasso T4 will fit the need since it has a bass boost, plys you can do dfkt's bass boost mod to reach insane level of bass.

Thanks, forgot to mention that is would be mainly used with iem's and that a dac isn't necessarily needed. Also, can you give me more infor regarding the dfkt's bass mod?

Any other suggestions, the one thing I don't like regarding the ibasso t4 is the non-replaceable battery?

The T4 hasn't got a dac and is very small. The dfkt bass mod is somewhere in the huge T4 thread. As I remember it consisted of bypassing two resistors.

Fiio E5 and the iBasso T4

Any with replaceable batteries? Would the tomahawk satisfy my bass requirements? I know that it doesn't qualify cost wise but just wandering if it would provide the bass I'm looking for?

Fiio E3, runs for 20 hours on one AAA, amp is like $10

the toma isnt the best performer out of the RSA amps, and I dont like them in general, but I think you will get better value elsewhere. maybe a AMB mini^3 built by misterX who is a member here. it doesnt have a bass boost, but is a great performer and the bass is very nice. also considerably cheaper than a tomahawk.

The Tomahawk has a very nice all round sound, and unbelievable battery life. I wish i still had my Tomahawk. Of all the portable amps i have listened to, owned and sold, the Tomahawk remains my favourite. They are great amps, but not necessarily that good for a bass head.

hi all,

thanks again for all the suggestions!

Also, how is the bass on the go-vibe petite and on the RSA Mustang P-51 compared to some of the amps mentioned in this thread? Just trying to get a reference point?

If bass you are after the MiniBox-E+ with AD8065AR Opamps and Bass Boost will not fail to satisfy any basshead - they are deep, rich, impactful and full of reverbs. Honestly they are too hot for me when the Bass Boost is switched on while using AD8065AR, but perhaps this will work for a basshead.

PS:
With AD8065AR, I switched off the Bass Boost even when using ER-4S
